Proud to be a part of College of Fisheries, Mangalore.
Placements: There is a placement cell in the college, but there is no use. Placement is solely depending on individuals knowledge and contacts. 5-8 companies visited the campus for campus interview last year (2017). Minimum stipend available for students is 1000, and the maximum is Rs. 3000.
Infrastructure: As it is Asia's first fisheries college, it's going to celebrate it's golden jubilee this year (2018). The classrooms have not been upgraded to presents needs and standards. Renovation of old building also not taken up. There is no Wi-Fi available in the campus, whereas there is a sophisticated library with computers and internet facilities. Labs are of moderate infrastructure and are not bad to carry on practicals. College of Fisheries Mangalore is heaven for sports and games and extracurricular activities. There is a well established indoor stadium with standard badminton court, table tennis, games, wonderful gymnasiums and swimming pool which is very well-maintained. Also, there is a basketball court and volleyball and also. There is a large playground. The quality of food available in the canteen is good and is according to students need. The menu is based on students request which makes the food suitable for all.
Faculty: All the faculty members are the alumni of the same institution, hence are very cooperative, understand and know the problems faced by students in the college. They are very supportive and helpful in all the ways in studies and research activities. All the teaching methods are used in order to make the concepts clear, also the smart class. As there are 4 months of implant training in industries and complete industrial exposure is gained. The course curriculum is upgraded with 5 deans committee meeting.
Other: There is district level Fishco fest organized which includes various cultural competition. Also, intercollegiate sports and cultural fests are also organised.

Good course if you like it.
Placements: I'm a graduate of the College of Fisheries, Mangalore. About 60-70% of students get placed after graduation. The average salary varies based on the post you get after graduation, from INR 60,000 to 2,00,000. Usually, graduates work in fish farms, fish feed, and processing units. 100% of students get internships in Fisheries-related companies like breeders, fish farmers, and processing units across the state. Graduates work in a variety of roles, depending on their subject of preference and practice. Some work as farm managers, supervisors, or senior scientists in research institutes. Others work as government officials.
Infrastructure: The facilities are not so commendable, especially considering the lack of financial aid from the university. However, the college has one of the best libraries I've ever seen. The hostel and food facilities are average, as are the medical facilities. On the plus side, the college is considerably good in terms of sports and games.
Faculty: Some of the faculty are good and some are not so good. The course focuses extensively on topics that we can pursue in the future. Scoring is considerably easy in this course, and the pass percentage is 50%. If a student knows the subject well and has listened to classes, they can pass even by studying the night before the exam.
Other: I chose this college because I was interested in learning about fishes and deep interest in Science based knowledge and it being near to my homeplace. The teaching is practical based and less importance to theory and more to skill enhancement with exposure to different industries or job opportunities. Extracurricular activities are rare even fests for that matter though we celebrate college day, freshers day and send offs.
