Government College of Engineering and Technology. One of the best.
Placements: My class, 3rd sem mechanical, has 26 students, and 1st sem has 46 students. The highest package is 10 Lacs from campus. Off-campus, it can go to 20 Lacs in Andhra Pradesh. Top companies are TCS, Volvo, and many more. Very few are placed, 40% only. The only one who can sit in the placement room if he/she has no back or supply in subjects.
Infrastructure: The college has all the facilities over labs with well-trained teachers and faculty. The college has a hostel and math facility for boys; the boys' hostel is running and has many rooms, but the girls' hostel is under construction. The college has a big playground and stadium too. The college has a wide campus full of trees and greenery.
Faculty: Our college has well-trained professors and teachers, both permanent and temporary. The professors are mainly qualified from IITs and NITs. Our college makes the students industry-ready. The semester exams were very tough, and the person who got their 40 percent passed in each subject.

My title of the review will be “How’s my GCET.”
Placements: Placements are good in this college, especially in the 7th semester, where companies come from all over India to meet and greet the students. The highest package gone there is 12 LPA, and the minimum package was 3 LPA for a student, who was my senior. Mostly, students go for internships in the last year rather than taking a project.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for the course and hostel is very good as they provide value-for-money services and also all other things. The hostel facilities are good, they provide good quality food and rooms for the students. There are libraries and indoor sports rooms to play in.
Faculty: Faculty, curriculum, and exams for my course – I would rate it 10/10 because I am in the 5th semester now but haven’t had any problems to date. The exams are difficult for all the students because we are under Jammu University, but clearing the exams is not a big deal.

This college will not provide great career opportunities; you have to do it on your own.
Placements: Less than 5% of students are placed, and the highest package is 5.6 LPA, while the lowest package is 2.4 LPA. Top recruitment companies are Pisoft and some small-scale companies. Less than 10% of students got internships from our course at Pisoft, and the top roles offered are designer and website developer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good but needs repair and maintenance. The library is good, but classrooms are old-fashioned and require development. The quality of the mess in the hostel is not very good, and the rooms are in poor condition, needing significant repairs.
Faculty: Most of the faculty are contractual, so after every session, we face issues and a lot of time is wasted because teachers are not available. Many subjects that are irrelevant to our course are included in the syllabus. The semester exams are tough compared to the teaching provided.
Other: The government opportunity is great in this course, and the extra syllabus must be removed if it is irrelevant. Events and fests are totally organized by students. Scholarships are provided by AICTE.

Overview of GCET Jammu, JK.
Placements: Only 3% of students are placed in our batch. The highest package offered is 3 LPA, while the average package is 1.5 LPA; I have no information about the lowest package. There is just one company, PiSoft, that comes for recruitment. Students have secured internships at TCS. Various roles are offered in our course, including SDE (Software Development Engineer), Product Manager, Data Analyst, Cyber Analyst, and Officer in the defense forces of India.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi is available in our department but is not accessible to students. The labs are well-built with great infrastructure, while the classrooms need improvement. The department's infrastructure requires maintenance, as it hasn't been cared for since the college was built. Although I don't live in the college hostel, I have visited it. The hostel infrastructure is good but also needs maintenance. The food quality in the mess is excellent. Sports and games facilities have started improving in our college, but it will take time; right now, they aren't up to the mark.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and assist in clearing all doubts. They are well-qualified and possess an enormous amount of knowledge about their respective subjects. The teaching quality is wonderful, and you can ask your doubts openly and freely during class. Yes, the course curriculum is relevant, covering subjects like DSA, Network Security, and Computer Networks. The semester exams are not that difficult if you have gone through the concepts well and solved previous year's questions. Unfortunately, the pass percentage is very low, at 51%, due to writing issues and the length of the answers.
Other: I chose this course because it covers all the latest emerging technologies in the market, such as AI and ML. I think there should be a lab for practical applications of AI and ML, such as a Robotics Lab, and a separate subject on robotics should be introduced. Events like Smart India Hackathon, NCEEITET, and tech fests take place in our college. Additionally, annual Diwali and Holi fests are also celebrated. You will find a mixed crowd in our college, with both low-grade and high-grade students, as is typical in most colleges. The campus surroundings were not well-maintained earlier, but now the college premises are improving in terms of cleanliness. The Prime Minister's Scholarship is available for students who are wards of paramilitary and defense personnel, as well as for female students under this scheme. Regarding extracurricular activities, we have sports activities like cricket, badminton, and volleyball on campus, and we also host singing competitions.

It’s a good college, but not excellent. Placements should be increased in future.
Placements: The college is fine. The staff is also good but the placements are very poor. Packages offered range between 4-5 Lacs per annum. In my batch, many students got internships from different companies and institutes like NIC, DRDO and many other private companies. Offered roles in my course include that of software engineer, web developer, and others.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not so good. The labs are okay but not of a high standard. The library is also okay but not all the books of my course are available. The Labs are not very big and have less seats to fit in a number of students. The staff is strict and doesn’t let us touch anything.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Some of them are very amazing. The course curriculum is relevant, it makes the students industry ready. Some subjects difficulty level is high. The passing percentage is 40%. I love my final years’ teachers because they are helpful and knowledgeable.

Review of Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu.
Placements: Top placements are around 7-8 lacs per annum; only 4-5 people got that much. Rest either got less than 3 LPAs or they didn't even bother to apply. Most students go for higher studies; overall, it's not advisable to depend on placements from colleges; the bare minimum of companies visit this college.
Infrastructure: The hostels are good. College infrastructure is still under construction, and electrical department buildings are still under construction. It is in nature, far from. The city is very difficult to reach. It's in the nature so you will get good air. Rest, it's 3/5.
Faculty: Our syllabus and exams are decided and conducted by university of Jammu. It is like board exams every semester. Internals are in the hands of college. The course seems outdated as per the latest teaching standards. It should be designed. No fancy clubs like drama, dance, music, etc. are there

GCET Jammu: heaven for civil engineering.
Placements: The training and placement cell of our college works day and night to get students placed in the best companies The highest package offered to the student in our course was 6.5 LPA, and the average package is about 3.5–4 LPA. Topic outing companies for a course special in civil engineering. Almost 10–20% students get internship from higher institutions like IIT Jammu, IIT Mandi, etc. There are other students who got their internships from PWD Jammu. The top roles offered in our course are junior engineer, superintending engineer, construction supervisors, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of a college is not the best, but it is not that bad; it is average. The Wi-Fi services are available throughout the campus. Labs are well-equipped with almost every kind of testing machine. The classrooms are spacious and well ventilated. Talking about the facilities in our hostel, we have a decent room with a ceiling fan, a study table, and a chair. Then the food available in the mess and canteen is very good. But the medical facilities are not so good, and sports and games are also not given priority at the college.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. Most of the faculty is hired on a contractual basis. The permanent faculty is very highly educated; most of the permanent faculty teachers are Ph.D. qualified, and the contractual faculty is also masterful in their subjects, but some of the contractual faculty members are also Ph.D. qualified. The course curriculum is very relevant; the subjects that start in the course are directly related to civil engineering. The curriculum makes the student industrial-ready. The question paper for the semester exam is set by the University of Jammu and is of moderate level. The passing percentage is not to high, but it lies somewhere between 60 and 70%.
Other: The main reason for choosing the course for me was the hype of civil engineering department at the Government College for Engineering and Technology, Jammu. My two cousins are also the passwords of civil engineering department from Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu; both of them are working as junior engineer in railways and PWD departments of Jammu & Kashmir government, respectively. By getting influenced by them, I chose to get into the civil engineering branch. The things I wish we were better in a course were the extra activities, such as sports, etc. Not very much but our college hosts one cultural festival every year The name of the festival is Weaves. The campus crowd is not very large, but it is somewhere between 600 and 700 students at a time the campus crowd is not very large, but it is somewhere between 600 and 700 students at a time. The campus is built on the banks of the Chenab River. Students can avail scholarship scholarships at this college if they belong to reserved category.

Excellent value for money college with good faculty but not that many great social life and events.
Placements: Only 6-7 people got placed in my branch out of 55 total. The lowest package in the college is 300,000, the highest can go up to 6 lacs, and the average package is also 300,000. There are no top companies recruiting at our college, just some local teaching companies. 5 students got internships from the batch and that too off campus. The roles offered are mostly web development.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. All the labs are well-equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi and the classrooms are also well maintained. The library has all kinds of books related to the whole curriculum. The hostels were good; the rooms were big enough and tidy and the mess food was good, as I learned from a friend of mine. Sports and games were not that appealing and didn't occur frequently .
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified as well as helpful and they have good knowledge of the curriculum. The course curriculum seems quite relevant but some subjects seemed outdated and didn't seem useful at all. Semester exams were quite decent and not too easy; one can say you have to have good knowledge of the course. The pass percentage is about 70%.
Other: I had interests in computer field and related fields in Texas too. That's why I chose this course. It was quite interesting.
I wish there was more practical knowledge than learning theory.
Events and fests were organized once or twice a year, not as big and exciting as they should be.
