A Brief Review of Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar.
Placements: In my course, most of the students are placed, but the salary for freshers is quite low, so a little percentage of students accepted the job. The highest package is 7 LPA by Tata Power. Tata, Adani, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro are our top recruiters. The top role is manager post, which is given in Tata Power.
Infrastructure: The environment is quite good, but facilities are not good enough. There is no proper Wi-Fi facility; we only got 34 MB per day. The classrooms are smart and technologically advanced, but no action is provided. The hostel for 1st-year students is quite good, but the senior hostels need some repair. The food is okay but not healthy at all. The medical facilities are near the college. Sports facilities are terrible.
Faculty: All the teachers are highly qualified and good at their job. They are very helpful and complete the syllabus in time. The exams are regular, and no cheating is allowed. Each semester has 2 internals, 1 semester exam, and countless assignments and homework. The course is not relevant. The semester exams are quite hard, but scoring in the exams is very easy.
Other: I love electrical engineering, and this college is nearer to my home, so I opt for this branch. The college has various clubs, and different cultural and technical fests are conducted each year.

This college is average. If you have a budget of 120000 per year, then you can consider it.
Placements: Students who have more than 70% can easily enter the college. 15 Lacs to 30k Tata, Hero, and many others are there; you know, using a browser. It is almost 70 to 80%. Behavior, confidence level, and skill are important and play a role.
Infrastructure: Many sports are conducted here. You can also have a good gym facility. Here, you will gain good experience. And you can also have canteen facilities. Lecturers also teach us well; they have good teaching experience. But it is not sure that you will also like this. But for middle-class people, it is good.
Faculty: Teachers are not too helpful; we have to do our own, and yeah, if you have doubts, you can easily contact them during their given call time. So you can say that there are many courses available like CSE, ECE, EE, ME, CE, etc. In the first and second semesters, you will face a little difficulty because the studying time is less. The semester duration is 4 months in this case, and after that, from the 3rd to the 8th semester, you will get a proper 6 months.
Other: I wanted CSE, but my percentile was not good in the JEE exam, so I got electrical engineering. But I am happy now. Things are better here.

Dissatisfied with the college administration. Not recommending this college.
Placements: Other are around 280 students in our batch. But about 70 students got paced in placement process. The highest package was 3.8 lacs and the lowest was 1.5 lacs and average salary was 2.6 lacs. TCS and some marketing companies tech mahindra also come to our college. All students got placed as software developer. From our colleges students take their internships in CTTC.
Infrastructure: Our college is in better location. I. e communication facility is good enough. Hostels are inside the campus. Our college has well equipped labs. A big library almost all books we get from this. Classrooms are huge. And ventilation is proper. But AC are not working. Our hostel facility is good enough quality food is supplied medical facility is also available. Almost all indoor outdoor sports equipments are available. Better Wi-Fi connectivity in hostels.
Faculty: Our college faculties are well educated but they don't want to take classes. All are with well knowledge about course. Teaching quality is average for which we suffer a lot. Junior faculties have not much idea about the courses. They don't clarify the doubts. They are not making the students industry ready. I. e not teaching students about the techniques. Only memorize the subjects and write down in the exam.
Other: I have got selected through OJEE in 2015. I like this as my father is an electrical engineer. He advice me to take this course as it has vast scope. I think in my college faculties should take responsibilities to train the students to make them technically strong. In our college every year annual function technical fest observed. Our students go to different colleges to take part in fests.

If you want to choose mining branch, then prefer this college.
Placements: If you want placements in core companies, then you might get only 1 to 2 companies. If you need placements, then choose the mining branch. Students who want to make their careers in mining engineering can join this college. There is no scope for other branches in this college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. As it is newly constructed, you can find a good campus near the mountains. But, if you are expecting high-end infrastructure, then you are wrong. It is outside the town, i.e., 6 km away from town and is located in a rural area. The weather you find here is far better than the town.
Faculty: Nowadays, regular faculty members are joining newly. During our time, there were not many regular faculty members, but now, I think there are 4 to 5 regular faculty members for each branch. Every faculty member is knowledgeable. They are recruited by the government of Odisha, and most of them are graduates from NITs and IITs.
Other: Many events like Utkarsh, annual functions, many convocations, etc., are organised in the college.

Good placements and infrastructure.
Placements: The college has been successfully providing placements for students from 2014 onwards in big organisations like Vedanta, Bhusan, OMC, ACC, Adhunik, Aditya Birla, MESCO, OCL, IMFA, Rungta, MGM Steel, Arya Iron And Steel, Ultratech Cement, Jayswal Neco, Satyam, Infosys, and Tega Steel.
Infrastructure: It's the only government educational institute in North Odisha providing engineering and technical education. The college was established in 1995, in one of the oldest technical institutes, Orissa School of Mining Engineering. It was declared as a constituent of Biju Pattnaik Institute Of Technology in 2006, and now it's providing adequate guidance to more than 400 students per year along with encouraging students towards sports and outdoor games. Moreover, the college is providing free Wi-Fi on the whole campus, and there is also a gymnasium. The food served is hygienic, and the hostel rooms are clean.
Faculty: Engineering is the application of science. Projects and experiments have always been a necessary part of the educational system like the saying goes, "If I hear, I will forget. If I see, I will remember. If I do, I will understand." Engineering makes no sense if it's limited only to books.
Other: Faculty members and staff have always been graceful towards students, providing proper guidance along with a ragging free campus, placement assistance, inter-college seminars and clean and secure infrastructure.

Absolutely lazy and selfish management, looting money from the government and students too.
Placements: The one and only branch which is good here is the mining branch. CSE and civil branch are still not AICTE affiliated. The number of permanent faculty members is same as the number of people getting placement from here, extremely less, or in better words, only 2% out of all.
Infrastructure: The college is good in infrastructure. Of course, it's expanding, but what's the benefit of this infrastructure if we don't have facilities and the labs are poorly developed. Buildings are good but not too beautiful or worth looking and admiring. The campus location is good. It is near the town, peaceful, but lonely after evening.
Faculty: The faculty members are good, helpful and interactive too. As we all know, the course curriculum of each and every college of this nation is far away from that required. The teachers don't finish the syllabus before time, and hence the only option left with them is to call the students for extra class and then deliver boring lectures just for the sake of completion.

There is an enthusiastic learning atmosphere, where a student can grow technically and ethically.
Placements: There is a complete placement for the mining branch, which has got 100% placement. The other branches experience two types of recruitment drive one was Wipro off-campus, and the university organised it. This campus was a pool campus, which was meant for the only government college of Odisha.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the government college of engineering is well-furnished. Each separate block for a branch, which is recommended to allot the classes and workshops. The electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science engineering, mineral mining, and metallurgical engineering are separately working. The civil engineering is newly established engineering course in this college.
Faculty: The faculty members are the blending of permanent and contractual. Some of them are proficient, and the others are still a learner, but one can find a good study atmosphere and a helpful faculty, who can guide for the better prospects like GATE and IES exam, which are considered as the best exam for the engineering student in India.
Other: The fests like Utkarsh(the technical fest) and Utthan(the cultural festival), which are two events conducted by the students and guided by the faculty members. The campus is not crowded, and silence can be found anywhere.
