Hope this answer helps !
BSc Biotechnology duration is 3 year. BTech Biotechnology is 4 years long. BSc Biotechnology is more relaxed than BTech. The number of coursework and lab work will be less and you will be introduced to the core subjects right from the first year whereas in BTech 1st year will have common engineering coursework (Refer any university syllabus) with very little or no core subjects.
From 2nd year there will be 6 or 7 coursework and 3 or 4 lab works to complete in each semester. This can change from one university to another but it won't be less than that. Most BSc courses may not include chemical engineering papers which have lots of math, equations, derivations and stuff. Chemical engineering is a major part of the BTech syllabus.
Biotechnologist is not a medical doctor (MD). Biotechnologists usually hold degrees in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields, but they do not have medical sciences.
The educational background and focus of a biotechnologist involve the application of biological and molecular techniques in areas such as research, industry, and the development of new technologies.
Here are some differences between the two:
| Feature | Biotechnology | Biomedical Engineering |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Applications in agriculture, medicine, the environment, and industry. | Medical devices, prosthetics, diagnostics, and healthcare technologies. |
| Industry Applications | Pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food processing, environmental remediation, biofuels. | Medical device companies, hospitals, research institutions, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare systems. |
| Work Options | Research and development, production, process engineering, quality control, and regulatory affairs. | Research and development, design and development, manufacturing, clinical engineering, and regulatory affairs. |
| Salary Range | INR 4 - 12 LPA | INR 4 - 10 LPA |
| Skill Requirements | Biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and mathematics. | Engineering principles, mathematics, physics, biology, and human anatomy. |
