BTech Biotechnology Course FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions about the B Tech BioTechnology Engineering course:

Q:   Which is better: Medical Engineering or Biotechnology Engineering?
A:

Hi,

The better choice depends on your interests, skills, and career goals.

Still, there are some key differences to help you compare and come to a decision:

FeatureMedical EngineeringBiotechnology Engineering
FocusDesign and development of medical products and tools including implants and diagnostic productsIntroducing changes to living organisms as well as to some critical biological processes in order to fashion out products as well as processes.
ApplicationsProsthetics, artificial organs, medical imaging, drug delivery systemsPharmaceuticals, biofuels, bioremediation, genetic engineering
Work EnvironmentHospitals, clinics, research labs, medical device companiesPharmaceutical companies, agricultural companies, environmental consulting firms, research labs

Hope this answer helps !

Q:   What is the difference between BSc Biotechnology and BTech Biotechnology?
A:

BSc Biotechnology is 3 years (six semesters) and BTech Biotechnology is 4 years (8 semesters). Comparatively, BSc Biotechnology is much more relaxed than BTech, the number of coursework and lab work will be less and you will be introduced to the core subjects right from the first year whereas in BTech 1st year will have common engineering coursework (Refer any university syllabus) with very little or no core subjects.

From 2nd year there will be 6 or 7 coursework and 3 or 4 lab works to complete in each semester. This can change from one university to another but it won't be less than that. Most BSc courses may not include chemical engineering papers which have lots of math, equations, derivations and stuff. Chemical engineering is a major part of the BTech syllabus.

Q:   Is a Biotechnologist a Doctor?
A:

Biotechnologist is not a medical doctor (MD). Biotechnologists usually hold degrees in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields, but they do not have medical sciences.
The educational background and focus of a biotechnologist involve the application of biological and molecular techniques in areas such as research, industry, and the development of new technologies.

Q:   Which field has good scope, Biotechnology or Biomedical Engineering?
A:
