a comparison, between IEM (KOLKATA) & HERITAGE, no doubt IEM is the best private institute & the oldest in Eastern India. As I am an ex student of IEM so I know that they provides best education and also they are offering multiple job opportunities to the students every year since 1989. the highest placement record and the highest percentage of placement happening every year comparing with other colleges. IEM have a very good industry exposure, sending their students to MNCs for internships and industrial trainings. IEM is very strict to maintain their discipline as a student must have to keep very good attendance. Recently they have tied up with amazon and top 5 companies like Tcs, wipro, cognizant, accenture, capgemini are recruits a huge number students every year with exciting salary packages. Many more companies are there also for Management students. So as an Engineering and Management college IEM is the best from the best of my knowledge.

18000 is the closing rank. According to your choice of trade see the cut-off list for 2017 on the WBUT website. If you want to go to IT Streams then their cut-off rank will be around 6000 this year. Thank you.

Dear Cosmo,
Yes, BTech in CSE is really a good option as per the market standard. I have no idea about the B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (Lateral Entry) at Heritage Institute of Technology but being alumni of LPU, I can share the details of the same programme with you at LPU.
Good Placement: LPU has a good placement record for CSE students. Every year more than 500+ companies including national and multinational companies visit LPU for placement. A few of them are Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, etc. in which they are placed. The maximum package availed for CSE is 42 lacs. per annum by Microsoft.
LPU has a very good placement and achieved awards for employability also. The main thing for placement that I liked there is that LPU provides placement classes to the students from the first year, which helps students prepare for placement until their final year of the program.
Scholarships: LPU provides scholarships to bright students every year worth crore rupees to all the students based on their academics, extracurricular activities, and other factors.
Tie-ups: B.Tech in CSE has tie-ups with industries that help students to explore themselves more in their field such as IBM, Intel, Xebia, Upgrad, etc.
Specializations: CSE students get many specializations while studying CSE to enhance their knowledge according to their interests such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Data Science, etc.
Apart from this, many opportunities and scholarships are there in LPU while studying for bright students in academics and extracurricular activities.
I hope this helps
Thanks
