On Admissions
Q:   Can I get admission in Heritage Institute of Technology without WBJEE?
A:

Yes, Admission to Heritage Institute of Technology is possible without WBJEE exam. These seats can be secured through either JEE Main exam or management quota. However, 80 percent of the total seats are reserved for WBJEE, 20 percent are reserved for management quota and JEE Main. Tuition fee for the management quota can be different and on the higher side.

Q:   How is CGPA calculated in Heritage Institute of Technology?
A:
Every semester there will be 5-6 subjects and their labs. Each subject will carry some credit. Now, if one gets for example 85/100 in a subject then he gets 9 points in that subject. Suppose that subject had 3 credits then Credit points for that subject will be 9x3=27 points. This way all subjects points are calculated and then added. Let as suppose on adding all subjects one gets 200 points. And on adding all subject credits it comes around 22. Then dividing 200 by 22 will give you the CGPA and in this case it will be 9.09 CGPA. For 91-100 it is 10 points for 81-90 it is 9 points for 71-80 it is 8 points for 61-70 it is 7 points for 51-60 it is 6 points for 41-50 it is 5 points below 40 it is 2 points and fail.

Our campus placements are not very high, which may be because our college is unable to invite proper companies.

Just an average college but you can join.
Placements: In 2025, for biotechnology, companies such as TCS, Cognizant, Capgemini, Nestlé, and Zifo visited. A total of 12 offers were made. 50% students were placed among those who registered. In our department, only SRFP provided a research internship with a stipend. All other internships were non-stipend-based, ranging from research to industry. My internship was in JU, and it was an in vivo research.
Infrastructure: The institute has an underground library with ample books from the curriculum to literature in different languages. It also houses a digital library. Every classroom has a chalkboard and a smart board, equipped with a projector. Sports such as cricket and football training are provided. Student-run social groups are plenty, the institute has its own clubs - drama, dance, sports, Science, language, etc. The hostel is only for girls, and the last entry time is 8:30 PM.
Faculty: For each class, the faculty-to-student ratio is 1:60. Faculty-student relations are quite good, and teachers are very approachable in terms of research or industry support. Teaching methods can be improved and advanced by not just reading from PPTs, but also letting students face the industry more. Suprose tests are held throughout the semester. Practical exams happen before theory. End-of-semester theory exams are held in May and December every year.

Overall review of my college.
Placements: In my course this year, 57% of the students got placed. Top recruiters were Infosys, Accenture, and some other mass recruiter companies, mainly. The highest package that was offered was LPA, and the lowest was 2 LPA. Almost every student gets an internship in their 3rd year.
Infrastructure: First of all, there is no on-campus hostel available for boys. There are some hostels for boys outside the campus, and all are in very poor condition. Wi-Fi is available in all the hostels, but the food they provide is not worth it. There are multiple sports and games opportunities, though, like interdepartmental sports and all.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, highly qualified, and knowledgeable. If you can't understand Bangla, then you will face a little difficulty, but not much. Exams are not tough. You can do well in exams by just studying for 1 week or so. In 1st year, most of the things that they are going to teach you won't make you industry-ready, but they are important for your fundamentals.

Review of Heritage Institute of Technology.
Placements: Placements in our college are not very good, but average. Many students did not get placed on campus. Many of them get placed. Many big and small companies approach our college, like TCS, IBM, Deloitte, etc. 50 percent of students get placed. The highest package offered is 12 LPA, and the average package offered is 6 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our college does not have a hostel inside the college campus for boys, but for girls, it is inside the campus. For boys, there is only a hostel for 28 1st year boys. The cook is not so good. The college does not provide any facilities.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and very helpful. The course curriculum for college students is not good. Everything should be done on our own. Exams are good and are held after 6 months every year as a semester. The paper is not very tough. They are easy and are from PYQs. The availability of courses is pretty good. There are so many courses.
Other: No such events have happened after my admission. There are no fests or freshers. Connectivity is good. Auto and buses are available for transportation. Scholarships are also provided for local people.

Average placements and bad campus life. No fests are conducted.
Placements: About 80-85 percent of students in my batch got placed in the last placement cycle. The highest package is around 22 LPA, the lowest package is approximately 2.8 LPA-3 LPA. The average package is roughly 4 LPA-5 LPA but honestly the placements are not that good as most of the students get below 4 LPA which is considered below average when you are doing B.Tech in CSE.
Infrastructure: Labs are good and the library is spacious but overall the infrastructure is average. We don't have any boys hostel it's only for girls hostel. Wi-Fi has no speed it's better to use 5G mobile data and Wi-Fi range is also very small only in our main building, ground, and first floor. Bare minimum medical and sports facilities are provided only for the sake of providing them.
Faculty: Many students find that teachers are not so helpful, supportive, and are not able to explain concepts clearly. They are approachable before exams as they give some topics and sample papers. We only pass exams and gain no knowledge. Some students mention language barriers (teachers using Bengali in class).

I am satisfied with the good environment and faculty members.
Placements: 75 percent of students got placed in our college. There is a maximum placement rate in the mechanical branch. The highest and average salary packages are offered in the AI ML branch. The highest package offered ranges between 20-25 LPA. But some students also got a package of 1 crore per annum off-campus.
Infrastructure: Labs are good. Wi-Fi works well, but sometimes it's slow due to heavy use. The library contains books related to our courses, but many other books are also there. Girls' hostels are on campus, but boys' hostels are outside of campus. A bus is provided for hostel students. The canteen is good, and the medical facilities are also appreciable.
Faculty: I am a first-semester student. So I have no idea about the semester exams, but as per seniors, it is approximately between medium and hard. If anyone pushes themselves, then they can achieve whatever they want. The college provides everything that they need. It's upon them. I don't know much about our core faculty members, but as per my experience, some faculty members whom I got during my first semester are really good, and some are really inexperienced.
Other: Everyone has opportunities in different fields, whether it's sports, extracurricular activities, entrepreneurship, or studies. No doubt it's a really good private college, but we need to push ourselves.

I am moderately satisfied with the infrastructure.
Placements: 57 percent of students got placements in our course. The highest package offered is 20 LPA, and the average package offered is 4 LPA. Wipro and TCS are the top companies for our course in this college. 57 percent of students got internships at Tata Consultancy Services Private Limited. I don't know about the top roles that are offered at my college.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi. Our class is on the 5th floor, so we don't get Wi-Fi from there. The library is good, silent, and clean for studying. It has a wide variety of books. Labs are average and clean. Classrooms are clean with a few benches.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They are knowledgeable and well-qualified for their teaching. The teaching quality is very sufficient. The course curriculum is relevant, but as this is my first year, I don't know whether it can make students industry-ready or not. For me, semester exams are not that difficult, but I don't know about others. I am in the first year, so I don't know the pass percentage. Faculty members are good, and I am satisfied with them.
