For admission to a two-year MBA/ PGP course at IIM Kozhikode, candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. Candidates who passed graduation with minimum 60% aggregate from a recognised university are eligible to apply for MBA course. Under the QS WUR Ranking By Subject 2023 category, IIM Kozhikode QS world ranking is 251-300 which is good when compared with the past years' ranking. In 2022, the college was ranked 351-400 and in 2021 the college was ranked 401-450.

The students of PGP, PGP-BL and FPM programmes are required to reside on campus. Residential facilities in the campus include 13 student hostels and faculty guest houses. Roobaroo is a cultural event conducted every year during the induction of the new batch to acclimate students to IIMK culture and build a good on-campus community. The Students' Council facilitates elections to the other student committees on campus. In addition to elections, the Students' Council is involved in elective bidding, hostel bidding, co-ordinating other student bodies (IGs, clubs and committees), conducting Farewells, liaising with administration and institutional development activities.

Bhooklagi is a student-based start-up operating inside the campus. It is the first and only kind of startup that's operating in any IIM. Nostalgia is the annual on-campus alumni meet and has been conducted since 2004. Sangram is an annual sports meet with IIM Bangalore, IIM Trichy, and IIM Visakhapatnam with each institute hosting the event in alternate years.

Kozhikode Marathon Executive Committee of IIM Kozhikode has organized mini-marathon runs in Kozhikode annually.
