IIFD Kolkata Marks Navratri with Grand Ashvina 2025 Celebration

October 1, 2025: The celebration of Navratri at IIFD Saltlake Kolkata Ashvina 2025 focused on the joys of the festival. The annual marquee event brought the campus to life with festive spirit, showcasing creativity and cultural pride. Celebration of Durga Puja with the students, faculty, and guests was done in a way that followed tradition, becoming cherished.

Ashvina 2025 was driven by college students. Learners from different design streams planned and prepared for weeks. Fashion design students created garments inspired by festive motifs and bright colors. Interior design students designed stage and space décor that carried the look and feel of Puja pandals. Textile design students presented fabrics and weaves that reflected Bengal’s rich cultural heritage. All their work changed the campus into a living show of talent.

The event also highlighted the cultural depth of Bengal. During Durga Puja, one of the most famous devotional dances performed in Kolkata is the Dhunuchi Nritya, where devotees dance with burning clay pots. Follow this tradition, students created stage concepts and costumes that reflected the movement and strength of the dance.

They also drew creative influence from other folk and classical performances such as Baul, Chhau, Gambhira, Raibenshe, and Gaudiya Nritya. These cultural links gave Ashvina 2025 an authentic touch, showing how design can reflect the roots of tradition.
Ashvina 2025 respected the values of the past while looking to the future. Classic festive colors like red, white, and gold were given new form through bold draping, patterns, and installations. Students also placed focus on sustainability. Recycled materials, natural fabrics, and eco-friendly décor were used across the displays. This choice gave the event meaning beyond beauty, connecting creativity with care for the environment.
