IIM Ahmedabad PhD Admission 2023
At the doctoral level, IIM Ahmedabad offers a full-time PhD programme in Management across 11 specialisations. For PhD admission, candidates need to possess a valid CAT (taken in last two years)/ GMAT (for foreign national candidates) score. However, applicants can take a few other exams (as per the specialisation they select in lieu of CAT). The eligibility criteria for IIM Ahmedabad PhD admissions are enlisted below:
| Eligibility criteria: Passed a master's/ PG diploma degree of two years/ Professional qualification (CA/ ICWA/ CS) with BCom degree from a UGC-recognised university*, OR Passed a BTech degree or equivalent four-year UG degree from a UGC-recognised university with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 or equivalent aggregate** - Candidates, appearing for the final year of their previous qualifying degree and, are awaiting results can also apply. However, if selected, the admission of such candidates will be provisional, only if the candidate submits a pre-final certificate signed by competent authorities of previous institute/ university, latest by May 31, 2022. |
*The duration of PhD programme for candidates fulfilling the first eligibility criteria in the above table will be three years.
**The duration of PhD programme for candidates fulfilling the second eligibility criteria in the above table will be four years.
Selection criteria: Candidates, shortlisted based on entrance test scores, are further invited for a PI round, conducted in online mode. PGP/ PGPX/ PGP-PMP alumni of any of the IIMs are exempted from taking any of the entrance tests and are directly called for the PI round.

IIM Ahmedabad fees varies course-wise. Students selected for admission have to pay the course fees to confirm their seat. In case of withdrawal of admission, the institute refund fee after deduction of INR 1,000 towards processing charges. Check below IIMA course-wise fees:

No, one can't join IIM without CAT. Candidates seeking admission to the IIM Ahmedabad MBA course must appear for CAT. The institute sends call letter to aspirants with score equal or above qualifying cutoff for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Students must meet both, the overall CAT cutoff percentile and the sectional cutoffs.The Institute does not release CAT cutoffs in the public domain and are exclusively accessible only via account login to candidates who have appeared for the exam.
IIM Ahmedabad admission to its flagship MBA programme is via CAT. Aspirants need to fill out the CAT form. For all other courses, candidates have to apply on the institute's website. Students must get an exceptional score in CAT. As IIM-A is the top management institute of the country, the cutoffs are equally high. The institute considers GMAT, GRE or CAT scores for admission in other courses. The institute also conducts IIMA Admission Test for MBA-BPGP in BA & AI and MBA-BPGP courses. Selected candidates are called for a PI round.
Entrance exam is followed by other selection rounds including PI & AWT for PGP. Selected students have to pay the admission fees and report at the institute to complete the process.

IIM Ahmedabad MBA tuition fees is INR 20.1 lakh. The fee is quite high. As per the sources on web, the fees is high as it operates autonomously without direct funding from government. IIMA relies on expensive global learning resources and maintain a high-end campus infrastructure.
