IDE University of Madras MBA Eligibility & Highlights 2025
IDE University of Madras MBA is a two-year post-graduate degree programme, divided into four semesters and offered in distance mode. The Institute of Distance Education (IDE) University of Madras established year 1981 to help learners achieve their educational, and career in management courses with their personal goals. The eligibility criteria required by the university for admission to distance MBA courses is candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or master's degree from any university/ college recognised by UGC/ AIU.
The university also possesses a professional degree in various fields, such as Engineering/ Technology/ Medicine/ Architecture/ Law for admission to MBA courses. IDE University of Madras MBA admission is based on the Management Entrance Test (MET) conducted by the Institute of Distance Education and the university also accepts the required scores in CAT, XAT or CMAT. The MBA programme follows a Choice Based Credit System, with students needing to earn a minimum of 78 credits through prescribed coursework over two academic years. Passing criteria include securing at least 50% marks in external examinations and completion of project work and viva.
IDE University of Madras MBA courses are available in over 11 specialisations, of which six specialisations are for MBA courses and the rest of the specialisations are for PGDM (Post Graduation Diploma in Management). Check out the specialisations for each course below:

IDE University of Madras MBA fees may include tuition fees, registration fees, admission fees, etc. The total tuition fees for MBA courses vary from INR 6,800 to INR 20,000. The registration fee for the distance MBA course is INR 1000 and the IDE University of Madras MBA admission fee is INR 250. Candidates are exempted from paying tuition fees for IDE University of Madras courses if they are physically disabled and visually challenged. IDE University of Madras MBA Admission Dates 2025
IDE University of Madras admission dates 2024 were extended up to 30 September 2024 for admission to the 2025-2027 batch. The academic year stream runs twice for MBA courses i.e., July to December and January to June. Aspirants shall ensure that they submit their application on or before the prescribed deadline. IDE University of Madras MBA Admission 2025: How to Apply?
Candidates can apply online at the official website of the Institute of Distance Education. In addition, there are multiple steps involved in IDE University of Madras admissions, such as registration, application scanning, appearing in the entrance examination, submission of documents, etc. Check the steps below:
1: IDE University of Madras MBA Application Process
Institute of Distance Education Madras University offers an MBA programme. Aspiring candidates must appear in a Management Entrance Test (MET) organised by the University and obtain a minimum of 40% aggregate or an eligible score obtained in CAT, XAT or CMAT. Check out the step-wise application process below:
Step 1.1: Visit the official website of IDE UNOM (unom.ac.in/ ideunom.ac.in)
Step 1.2: Click on ‘Apply Now’ under the admission tab
Step 1.3: Candidates must fill in all the details online and can download the application form.
Step 1.4: After filling out the application form candidates are required to submit the IDE University of Madras MBA application fee i.e., INR 500.
Step 2: Register for the Entrance Examination
Following the applications submitted, candidates who have not secured valid scores in the CAT, XAT, or CMAT entrance examination can appear in the university-conducted entrance examination i.e., MET (Management Entrance Test). For appearing in this examination candidates are required to pay the entrance examination fee i.e., INR 400. Many of the universities are present in India that offer MBA courses without an entrance examination, but at IDE University of Madras, the required scores in the entrance examination are an important component of the application.
