The total tuition fee for BDes at NID Ahmedabad is INR 16.84 lakh. BDes is a four-year course divided into eight semesters and the fee for each semester is INR 1.83 lakh. A pass in Class 12 in any stream is required to apply for the BDes course. Only Indian citizens born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible for admission under the General Category or the General EWS Category. No you can not join NID Ahmedabad directly since admissions are based on  NID DAT scores only. NID DAT is two-step exam consisting:

Prelims: Objective-type CBT focusing on design aptitude, general knowledge, and observation skills. 

Mains: Studio tests + PI to evaluate design thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.

NID Ahmedabad admission is based on NID Design Aptitude Test conducted for B. Des and M.Des courses. The Design Aptitude Test comprises two steps:

DAT Prelims - The applicant takes the Prelims test initially.

DAT Mains - students are chosen for DAT Mains based on their performance in that Prelims.

It is compulsory to appear in both Prelims and Mains. NID DAT Prelims comprises both objective- and subjective-type questions.
