On Highlights

Q:   How costly is World University of Design?

A:

The academic expenses at World University of Design (WUD) exceeding 5 Lakhs suggest a financial commitment commensurate with the quality of education and facilities offered by the institution. This expenditure likely encompasses various components such as tuition fees, laboratory fees, library fees, and other associated costs related to academic resources and infrastructure.

The investment in academic expenses exceeding 5 Lakhs may indicate that WUD places a premium on providing students with a robust learning environment, state-of-the-art facilities, experienced faculty, and possibly opportunities for industry exposure and practical application of theoretical knowledge.

Q:   Can I get B.Des at World University of Design with 75 percentile in NIFT exam?

A:

It is difficult to say for certain whether you will get B.Des at World University of Design with a 75 percentile in the NIFT exam, as the cutoff scores vary from year to year and from course to course. However, a 75 percentile is a good score, and it is likely that you would be competitive for admission to the B.Des programme at WUD.

In 2023, the cutoff score for B.Des at WUD was 70. However, it is possible that the cutoff score could be higher in future years. This is because WUD is a popular university, and there is a lot of competition for places on its courses.

Q:   What is the seat intake for the BArch programme offered at World University of Design?

A:

The total seat intake for the BArch programme is 40.

Q:   Can I get into World University of Design with 70% in class 12th?

A:

Yes, you can get into the World University of Design with 70% in class 12th. The university considers the WUD Entrance Score and the candidate's aggregate in 10+2 for admission. A WUD Entrance Score of 70-79.9% is one of the eligibility criteria for admission to the university. The World University of Design (WUD) is a private university located in the National Capital Region of India, established in 2018.

Q:   Can I get admission in World University of Design for B.Des with 60% in Class 12th?

A:

No, 60% in Class 12th is not enough to get admission in World University of Design for B.Des. The eligibility criteria for B.Des at WUD requires candidates to have secured a minimum of 65% marks in their Class 12th board examinations. This is because the B.Des programme is a demanding one, and WUD needs to ensure that its students have the necessary academic foundation to succeed in the program.

The campus had good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Placements were just started from the year I enrolled and many good companies showed up for campus placements. Your overall performance matters alot for the placement. Rest, they don't assure your placements but the company comes to hire you. Do visit the campus before you enroll.
Infrastructure: The campus and hostel were amazing. It was made beautifully and everything is built fresh. It was a beautiful and huge campus. The food served in the mess was also good and I still miss the mess food. Every day, you get good food, sometimes it's bad but mostly good. Air-conditioners were also available in the hostel. The campus had every facility and every lab that a student needed.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were highly qualified and they were very knowledgeable. The software has to be learned by self but the basics are taught. The faculty understands you and treats you well. Attendance is must otherwise it can create problem for you. Do visit the campus once.
Other: Not many students are there in the college but teachers are amazing. Fest, activities and everything is available on campus.

Really good infrastructure and facilities with good faculty support.
Placements: 85% of students were placed in our course, average package offered in course was 5 LPA (approximately). There are many recruiters like lopez design, wipro, delivery, paytm, etc. Top roles offered are: ux designer, assistant designer, cheif designer. 80% students got internship in companies like woodland, lopez design studio and local companies.
Infrastructure: Facilities offered are fully free Wi-Fi campus, spacious hostel rooms with twin sharing, good quality food with wide range of dishes, medicine room available and 24 hour first aid available with warden. A good canteen with big menu and great taste. A big ground for football and cricket and also the college has indoor games like table tennis and carrom.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful and supportive, they are minimum M.Des qualified. Teaching quality is good and the course curriculum is relevant for good learning and makes students industry ready. Semester exams are on learning basis and the pass percentage is 99.
Other: I chose this course as I was having great interest at graphic design. Things that are best in course are faculty members and practical learning. I wish course could have been better if there was 3d software included. College has a yearly cultural fest called Cult. College is at good location at rajiv gandhi education city and have access to all facilities. College is great at extracurricular activities.

B.Des. in Animation and Game Design - Batch of 2026

A place to start your design journey.
Placements: I'm an animation game design student currently in my 2nd year; internships and placements are offered in my 3rd and 4th years. I have heard about companies like Rock Star, Ikarus 3D, Amazon Game Studios, etc. coming to our college and many more game development studios. Looking over the lucrative game industry In India, good jobs are hard to find and at the end of the day, it all depends on your portfolio. The college is trying their best to bring companies on campus but if one's portfolio isn't strong, he ain't going to get any jobs.
Infrastructure: World University has a campus size of approximately 12 acres, which is quite good for an only-design university. Specifically, for animation game design, we have pretty high-end labs with Rtx-enabled PCs and an x-pen tab for each student; even ARVR technology is provided. Talking about hostels, both boys and girls hostels have three sharing rooms equipped with air conditioning. Private washrooms are there in each room.
Faculty: Overall, the curriculum is set up in such a way that we are ready to work in industry. Most of the faculty members are from NID or IIT and are quite experienced. We don't have exams where we have to write big answers; we have juries and practical exams, which make much more sense as we are in design.

The infrastructure is good, and I guess placements are not much great.
Placements: More than 50% of the students can get placed from our course. The highest salary package offered in our course was 6 LPA, and the lowest salary offered starts from Rs. 5,000 per month. Asian Paints is the top recruiting company for our course. I am in my first year, so I don't know about the percentage of students who got internships from our course. Top roles offered in our course are interior and spatial designer, lighting designer and visual merchandiser.
Infrastructure: I never visited the college until now due to a pandemic. However, I saw some photos and some feedback about our college, and I came to know that the infrastructure is good. But there is less workshop area in our college. I don't know about the facilities provided in hostels. Quality food is served in the mess and canteen.
Faculty: Few faculty members are good here. Teachers are not helpful at all in this time of the pandemic, and they are still focused on assignments only rather than on learning. There is a shortage of stationery, but they are still forcing us to buy them from outside and watch things around us for assignments, which is not possible at this time. So, they might teach first-year students. First-year is a foundation year, and I don't know anything related to my course.

Best and safest college experience.
Placements: 80% of students were placed in the companies they wished for, and others either opted for a gap year or prepared for higher studies. Minimum 4 lac to 20 lac packages. Top recruiting companies like Rockstar, Ikarus 3d, for courses like 3D generalist, concept artist, 3D designer, character artist, and more. All the placements depend on the portfolio of the student.
Infrastructure: The food is suited for people coming from all the states; it ranges from South Indian food to North Indian and Chinese on weekends. Food is provided 4 times a day: Breakfast, Lunch, snacks, and dinner. The hostel is filled with rooms of three sharing with Induction and refrigerator on every floor. Lifts are available 24/7. And a curfew on campus where students need to return back to their hostels at 9:40. Both hostels have common rooms with TVs and games like carrom.
Faculty: Faculty and curriculum are paced with all the software and courses needed for industrial knowledge. Animation and Game design mostly have practical 6-hour exams; they are surely exhausting but manageable according to the course taught in the modules. The curriculum is relevant to the day and age.
Other: Campus life is the best part of it if you live in the hostel with a canteen open all the time and a juice bar, a fun place to spend time with friends. If you are a sports person, it is filled with all the sports like basketball, badminton, volleyball, football, cricket.

Q:   What is the selection process for B.Des and what is the minimum NIFT Exam score required?

A:

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) B.Des selection process includes an entrance exam followed by a merit-based admission process. The NIFT Admissions Test is an important step for candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) program. There is no fixed cut-off rank for the minimum NIFT exam score required for NIFT admission. The required rank depends on a variety of factors, including course, category, and the candidate's preferred campus. In general, the lower the rank, the greater the likelihood of admission to the desired programme and campus. However, a score of at least 100 out of 150 is often considered a safe bet to gain admission to NIFT's top-tier institutions. To be eligible for admission to the B.Des program, candidates must have passed a 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised institution and have taken physics and mathematics as subjects. The maximum age for admission must be less than 24 years as of August 1 of the year of admission. The NIFT cutoff for the B.Des programme will vary each year depending on the number of applicants, the difficulty of the exam, and the availability of seats. Cutoffs are announced separately for each course (B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des, M.F.Tech, MFM) and indicate the minimum rank or score required for admission. The expected cut-off for B.Des in Fashion Design is 100 points and 800 points for Textile Design.

Q:   What is the selection process for B.Des and what is the minimum NIFT exam score required?

A:

The selection process for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) consists of two stages:

Stage 1: Written Entrance Examination

The NIFT entrance exam is a computer-based test that is conducted in two phases:

  • Phase 1: General Ability Test (GAT)

The GAT assesses the candidate's general aptitude in areas such as quantitative ability, English comprehension, and general knowledge.

  • Phase 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT)

The DAT assesses the candidate's design aptitude in areas such as creativity, drawing ability, and spatial awareness.

To qualify for the second stage of the selection process, candidates must secure a minimum score of 40% in both the GAT and the DAT.

Stage 2: Situation Test

Candidates who qualify for Stage 2 will be called for a situation test. The situation test is a group exercise that is designed to assess the candidate's problem-solving skills, communication skills, and teamwork skills.

Minimum NIFT Exam Score Required

There is no fixed minimum NIFT exam score required for admission to the B.Des program. However, the cut-off scores vary from year to year and from course to course. In general, a score of 70 or above is considered to be a good score for the B.Des program.

The following are the cut-off scores for the B.Des programme in 2023:

  • Fashion Design: 75
  • Leather Design: 73
  • Accessory Design: 72
  • Textile Design: 70
  • Knitwear Design: 71
  • Fashion Communication: 74

Please note that these cut-off scores are for the general category. The cut-off scores for reserved categories may be lower.

UPES is known for fostering collaborations with industry partners to enhance students' exposure to real-world applications of design.

To determine which institution is "better, " one must consider individual preferences and priorities. Factors such as faculty-to-student ratio, the relevance of the curriculum to current industry needs, campus facilities, and internship opportunities can influence the decision.

Prospective students should research each institution thoroughly, exploring faculty profiles, course structures, industry tie-ups, and alumni feedback. Additionally, considering personal career goals and the specific design discipline of interest is crucial.

With an overall rating of 8.4 out of 10, it suggests a positive and conducive environment for academic and personal growth. The university seems to be meeting the expectations of its students, reflecting a balance between various aspects of university life.

The positive ratings may stem from factors such as the quality of education, faculty expertise, infrastructure, and the overall campus atmosphere. The university may be offering a diverse range of programs and opportunities for students to explore their interests and talents.

The positive feedback from students might also indicate a supportive and engaging community where students feel valued and encouraged to pursue their goals.
