M.Des. in Universal Design at NID Bangalore Frequently Asked Questions
The National Institute of Design (NID) will conduct the counseling process for the M.Des program from April 2025. Candidates were shortlisted for counseling based on their merit ranks in NID DAT 2025.
Note that unlike B.Des candidates, M.Des candidates aren't required to submit campus preferences.
NID may conduct multiple rounds of seat allotment depending on the number of available seats.
After allotment of seats, the candidate has to upload relevant documents and pay the 1st semester fee to confirm their seats.
Diploma candidates need to meet the following conditions for admission:
Done full-time Diploma of 4-year duration after 10+2
Diploma in the following subjects is accepted - Design/ Fine Arts/ Applied Arts/ Architecture.
The Diploma must be done from a university or institute recognised by law in India.
Additionally, the candidate must have appeared in all the subjects and backlogs (if any) by June 30, 2024.
The admit cards for the DAT Prelims exam will be released on December 12, 2024. The admit card has to be downloaded online from the NID admission portal - admissions.nid.edu. In the log-in window that opens, enter your email id and date of birth. On the day of the DAT Prelims exam, the candidate needs to bring with them a valid photo id proof along with the admit card. Note that the admit card will carry details like the date and time of the exam, roll number, and exam centre name and address. In addition, it will also contain exam-day guidelines.
The M.Des admission process at NID Bangalore does not usually require cutoff scores. The candidates' abilities are assessed through multiple assessments of the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), Studio Test, and Personal Interview. The DAT is an entrance exam that evaluates the candidates' design proficiency, creativity and their visual and spatial skills. Those who have been shortlisted are expected to take part in a Studio Test, which assesses the candidate's design skills, creativity and problem solving ability in real-world scenarios. The final selection is determined by the candidate's performance in all three rounds of the admission process. MDes admission at NID Bangalore is not based on the candidates' scores in the qualifying degree exam.
