Realities of the Unknown!
Placements: A healthy 85%+ students were placed across the leading power producers and manufacturing companies of India and abroad. Annual packages offered were good and handsome. It is relatively an unknown college but the placement assistance provided was nothing less compared to NITs.
Infrastructure: Next to perfect facilities. Cleanliness and hygiene were given due importance and significance. God food in the canteen, nice playing areas for all sports, a good auditorium, a perfect fest location, everything was in place.
Faculty: Probably the most unique course in core engineering you can come across, as it spanned everything from mechanical to electrical to electronics and of course, a deep dive into power plants. The degree of familiarisation one develops with boilers turbines and generators is really up to the mark and helps a lot in the industry.

A reputed college known for producing great power engineers.
Placements: The placement rate for our year was about 80-90%. There were 100% placements for our senior batch. But due to a decline in demand in the power industry and overall stagnation, the placement rate of college had reduced. The highest salary package offered was 4-5 LPA. The placement team consists of both students and faculty, and they are dedicated to ensuring maximum placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good as it is funded by the central government. Mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation labs have sufficient and good quality instruments. Classrooms were very basic for the B.Tech course, but the PGDC courses had well-furnished AC classrooms. The college is located right in the city's centre, so all the amenities are within reach.
Faculty: NPTI has a range of very experienced and knowledgeable permanent and visiting faculty members who have been associated with the college from ages. They also have substantial industry experience. The teaching methods were basic chalk and board, but the college has a well-stocked library. Faculty members provide freedom to students to take up projects if they wish.
Other: Sadly, the B.Tech course has been closed down due to various reasons.

The infrastructure of our college is good.
Placements: Here, the placements are much less compared to semigovernmental institution. Only a few gets recruited every year. And, from year 2017, the B.Tech course of all the NPTIs of India has been terminated and the other courses are active right now. There are various companies which recruits us like: Vedanta, thermax, tata power, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. New buildings are also being constructed for future uses. These rooms are provided with air conditioning and glass sealed windows. There are projectors too for the benefit of the students. The hostels are cool too. There are many rooms in the hostel area and guards are present as well.
Faculty: Faculty members are good. They help us not only with our mental preparation but also involve us in different physical activities. They help us with the understanding of different concepts (not only technical but our real life also). We are really grateful to our faculty members.
Other: We have half fee and full fee scholarships for the students. No ragging. Our campus is small but beautiful.

Placements scenario is good as one will get a core companies.
Placements: Placements scenario is good as only core companies were called for recruitment process and one will get a experience in core companies. Companies called for recruitment are Thermax, Vedanta, tata power, cesc, adani, emerson, shapoorji pallonji, philips carbon black limited and many more.
Infrastructure: Talking about infrastructure, it is not so good. Labs are therr but equipments are not in good condition. Hostel wi-fi facilites were provided. Hostel rooms are well spaced with two people in a room. Qualities of food avaible in the canteen was goos but a bit costly.
Faculty: Teachers were moderately good. Talking about, it is a combination of both electrical, mechanical. Practical knowledge like industry exposure is awesome because in 6th semester college arranged a one month industrial visit for all the students to get a practical knowledge of what we studied in power engineering.
Other: Exposure is not so good. No seminars and technical related programs werr organised for the students. Scholarship were provided.

A short review on National Power Training Institute.
Placements: We have 35 placed candidates. Approximately 50% of the students got a job. The highest salary offered by Vedanta is 9 LPA. Many companies like Sapoorji Paloonji, Thermax, Balaji visited our college. They take students as G.E.T trainee. There are good placements in our college.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are good. The laboratory is good. The canteen food is the worst. Our campus has a great atmosphere. The hostels are moderate. We have good people in the surroundings of the college. Free medical facilities are available for the students. We have a children playground. The infrastructure is good.
Faculty: We have plenty of well-qualified teachers. They are PhD holders, M.Tech graduates, researchers. Directors of our college are well known. We have 20 teachers and lab assistants. We have certified alumni to help the students. The course curriculum is not that good but not bad. It is well-organised.
Other: The annual festival, Zephyr is organised in our college. Many projects, Science facilities fair, technological projects are common in our college. The students can get a full free scholarship, which is very helpful for the needy students.

A really good institute to get placed in core sector.
Placements: Aware of the current placement scenario everywhere, my college is one of the few colleges where only core companies visit and no I. T. companies visit. This is good for the students who get placed in power sector, there area of studies throughout their college life. About 51% of the previous batch was placed and the current placement status is 42% and going. There is a well coordinated placement cell headed by a TPO including final year students.
Infrastructure: There are well-equipped labs for various subjects accordingly. There is a good library not only having books but journals and manuals related to powerplant study and operations. There is a medical chamber where we have a regular doctor. There are volleyball court, two badminton courts and one football cum cricket ground. Indoor games like table tennis and carrom are also played. Recently the college building and the hostels are going through renovation. Installation of a 500 MW simulator has been sanctioned which will soon become functional. The main administrative building and the hostels are equipped with Wi-Fi. There are separate hostels for girls and boys with decent rooms. Any infrastructure issue can be lodged in the complaints register which is attended regularly. There is a security panel and guards near the main GATE with CCTV cameras for the safety of one and all.
Faculty: The teachers are really helpful. Also renowned external faculty members visit the campus to teach. Powerplant (industrial) visits are organised by the college where students gain practical knowledge. The course curriculum though is mainly focused on coal based power plant and focus on renewable energy resources is less.
Other: Every year a techno-cultural fest is organised by the B.Tech third year students in the month of April. Saraswati puja and Viswakarma puja is celebrated by the students and the teachers every year. Intra-college football, cricket, volleyball tournaments are organised every year. The campus is situated in a well connected city region where all facilities are available.

Placements pick up last pace in 2018.
Placements: B.Tech 2014-18 is a batch of 60 students, among which, 20 students were placed as of 22-Feb-2018. The highest package offered was 8 LPA and a minimum offered was 4 LPA. Core industry companies visit the campus like Thermax, Emerson, Visa Steel, L&T, PCBL, JSL, Tata Power, CESC, SPCIL and Vedanta Limited.
Infrastructure: It is a good Wi-Fi campus, with 2 Mbps speed. There are equipped classrooms. The library is well stocked. There is a doctor on the campus and conveyance to DSP main hospital is there in case of a mishap. Football, cricket, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, carrom facilities, along with the gym are available. Canteen food is manageable but not available currently due to problems. The hostel rooms are very dingy, and the beds are quite old.
Faculty: There are average faculty members with loads of power plant experience. Quality of guest faculty for the third and final year is above par, while the quality of teaching by the contract faculty is substandard. However, core subjects of power plant equipment, operation and maintenance are taught quite well. And the curricula includes training to help increase the practical knowledge.
Other: The annual techno-cultural fest Zephyr, hosted on the college campus has seen many successful years. The college is in the prime location, in the centre of the city, and it is connected by bus and train, to Asansol and Kolkata.

B.Tech in PWE stream in all NPTIs has closed from last year, which is a dark side of power engineer.
Placements: The placements for our batch were poor. Out of 60 students, only 6-7 students got placed. Out of 7 students, four got placed by TCE, one by Tata Power, and two got in Thermax. The package in Thermax and Tata power was 4.2 lacs per annum. TCE provided near about 4.5 LPA, and no other company visited our college. The shortage of this placement was due to the placement cell's negligence and irresponsibility. They didn't put any proper effort on the placement.
Infrastructure: The college was good from outside only, and inside, it was a dark hole. The classrooms and the library were average. The sports and games were held by the students only, and the college authority didn't provide any extra effort. There is a slow speed Wi-Fi facility, which is only in the hostel. The students get their meal and dinner from outside. The labs and the hostels were average, and not so Hi-Fi.
Faculty: A few faculty members were extremely good. I think the qualification doesn't matter and delivering the knowledge is main, which is less for the faculty members on the campus. There were limited faculty members on the campus. The student to faculty ratio is 240:15, including the director. We got the opportunity to visit many power plants, summer training, project training, etc. Our stream was power engineering. We divided in mechanical or electrical as our choice from the 3rd year, and it was college curriculum. There was no university curriculum, and the boards conduct only the exam.
Other: The events and the fests are held by the students only, and there is no extra effort from the college. The surroundings of the campus were a good charm as it is near to the city centre, which is one of the famous city. The college didn't provide any scholarships. Only SC and ST students get the scholarship by the government and not from the college.
