B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2029

It has a good infrastructure, but not the best.
Placements: Mechanical is one of the oldest branches. There are many opportunities for placements as well as higher studies. Almost 80 percent of the 2026 batch students get placed. The average package offered is 12 LPA.
Infrastructure: 1st year hostel is good. Mess food is average. Cleanliness is maintained well every day. Classroom, library, and Wi-Fi are available everywhere. The hostel is maintained carefully. Wardens are active participants in helping students in any situation. Sports are not good here.
Faculty: Faculty members from my branch are among the best. They are qualified and are doing many research projects at present. There are so many opportunities to work with them that are open from the 2nd year. Semester exams are a little bit stressful, obviously, as they are engineering-related. If someone studies regularly, then scoring good marks will be easy. Every professor in the mechanical department is highly qualified, but there is stress in studying in this branch.
Other: 2 major fests are organised in our college. Many famous artists come these days, making the college atmosphere great. But one issue is that they are very strict with 1st year students. There are so many restrictions in the 1 st semester, so we have to tolerate that.

It is an institute amidst the popular factories.
Placements: Placements of every branch are fulfilled. Almost every student gets placed. The placement rate is 80 percent for almost every branch except biotech, as students tend to go for further studies, while the rest of the categories are fulfilled. The data speaks for itself.
Infrastructure: The only problem is with washrooms, otherwise everything is fine in the way it is. Mess food tastes good at times, but that's to be expected as it is a government college. The network offered is to be noted. All communities are to be seen here, and diversity is maintained. There is proper and complete security.
Faculty: Midterms are held a month after the semester starts, and end-terms are after another month. The education facilities are high here, and any doubt can be cleared anytime. A proper and disciplined way of exams is followed. A proper decorum is maintained. Faculty members are quite cool.
Other: Absolutely wonderful fests are organised here.

It is better than expected.
Placements: Placements are really good, but not the best. In Mechanical Engineering, the most placement offers are from the core field, but tech placements also happen in the mechanical course. The college does not allow mechanical students to sit for FAANG companies, but allows others in tech companies. The average package offered is 10 LPA this year, which I have heard, but it is not officially released yet.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is really good, as I have experienced so far. The new academic building and hostels are really good and clean. In the hostel, the mess food is good. Water coolers are available here. Bathrooms are cleaned weekly. There are no water or electricity issues. Sometimes, there are Wi-Fi issues that are manageable.
Faculty: The course curriculum of mechanical engineering is good, and it has been updated this year to make it better. Here, in exams, there is an absolute grade system, which is not updated. Faculty members for mechanical engineering are mixed, as some are really good, but a few are very strict. There is ego in a few professors. Overall, in mechanical engineering, there is more pressure than in other branches.
Other: Fests are really good. Many popular singers come to cultural fests. Clubs participate in fests, and for 1st year students, it's a great opportunity.

Good college with good peers, good placements, but we need to do hard work as well.
Placements: Overall, the placement percentage is nice, which is 82 percent. In mechanical engineering, it is also 82 percent, but in a few branches, it is also above 90 percent. The average package offered is 9.72 LPA for the 2024 batch. The average package of college is 12.61 LPA in 2025. The college's training and placement cell provides good opportunities for internships as well. Top recruiters are Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, etc. Specifically in the ME course, companies like Tata, Bajaj, etc., visit the college for internships and placements.
Infrastructure: Till now, I have been residing in the first-year hostel, hall 11, which is very good. It has its own volleyball court, basketball court, and 4 badminton courts. We get good spacious rooms, especially 3 and 4-floor rooms. There are good washrooms as well. The mess food is decent. I have no idea about other hostels, but certainly they are decent enough. Some hostels, like the 2nd year hostel hall 14, look good from the outside. It has badminton courts inside. The library is also good. We get decent Wi-Fi speed. NAB classes are good, but MAB classes are a bit old.
Faculty: Professors are well-qualified. In some branches, like ECE, professors are very chill. In some other branches, teachers are pretty rude and strict. Some teachers are very good in terms of delivering knowledge. I am in my first year, so the course contains basics of engineering. Semester exams are moderate.
Other: I chose this course because, at my JEE rank, I was kind of making a balance between college and branch. A good thing about this branch is the good core placements. Along with that, I can target CS jobs as well. Events are pretty good, especially recstacy (cultural fest). Connectivity is also good. A fee waiver is given to students based on family income. Scholarships are also provided.

NIT Durgapur is good for placements.
Placements: Placements in NIT DGP are very good. The highest package offered is 80 LPA this year. The average package offered is 12 LPA. The lowest package offered is 6 LPA. Many famous companies like Infosys, Tata, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj, etc., hire students from the college. Internships are quite bad. 30 percent of students get internships in companies like Bajaj, Accenture, etc. The package offered is 52 LPA.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available in NIT Durgapur. It is very fast in NAB, MAB, the hall, and other areas. The central library of NIT DGP is very good. There are both hard and soft books. Lab facilities are good, but need maintenance. The food quality in our hostel is average. The medical unit is not good for critical classes. The ground is not maintained.
Faculty: Professors are very good and highly skilled. They are good in behaviour. They are in various projects to improve our country. They are really very good. The syllabus is good. Not large, not small, but difficult. Exams are held in a restricted environment, and no cheating is allowed. There are 3-4 guards in one small room, and the coordinator visits the room 2- 3 times.
Other: Professors of mechanical Engineering are very good and highly skilled, so I chose this college. Aerospace subjects and more specific branches are added. Club culture and college fests organsied are good.

I am satisfied with the college and its campus.
Placements: 75-85% of students get placed every year. The highest salary offered is 70 LPA from mechanical in the year 2023. Top recruiting companies like Aditya Birla, Tata Motors, and several PSUs visit the college for placements. The lowest package offered ranges between 3-4 LPA. The average package offered ranges between 8-9 LPA. The top roles offered are mechanical design engineer, junior engineer trainee, etc.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is top-notch. We have 2 playgrounds and IIC. The hostel conditions are much worse. The food at the mess is hardly edible. Recently, in borders of hall 11, snakes have been found roaming in their hostel. Wardens are not very active. There is a medical checkup centre inside the campus, and students visit there to get a free checkup.
Faculty: All teachers are helpful. The course curriculum is relevant to our generation. It makes students industry-ready to a great extent. Semester exams are difficult, but professors give good grades. Almost every student passes exams.
Other: One of the main reasons to choose this course is that my rank is not good enough for a better branch in the same college. From childhood, I liked mechanics and machines, so that explains it. Events and fests are organised throughout the year. The campus is in a rural area, so it is not very congested. From Durgapur railway station, we can get an auto directly to NIT.

This college is very satisfying and has good placements for all branches.
Placements: The placement percentage is 82 percent in the mechanical branch, with the highest package of 82 LPA, average package of 13 LPA, and the lowest package of 3-4 LPA. 200+ companies, including Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Sony, Swiggy, Emerson, are secured by a large share of students with companies.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in the hostel, it is not available in classrooms. There are AC classrooms. There is no problem with Airtel net, it is available in labs, classrooms, and hostel. 3 members per room. A large central library with thousands of volumes is available as a resource.
Faculty: Faculty encourages participation in projects and research. Pass percentage is very high, and very rarely are failures due to less attendance. There are mid-term and end-term examinations. For first years, all branches are mixed and divided in the 2nd year. If their CGPA is above 9, they can change their branch.

NIT Durgapur College review.
Placements: NIT Durgapur is doing well when it comes to placements. In the 2023 season, they boasted an impressive placement rate of 84.66 percent. The highest package offered is 70 LPA. Just to keep things in perspective last year's numbers are not quite as stellar. Only around 72 percent of students managed to land jobs. For those in the CSE department, the highest package reached 54 LPA while the average package is a bit lower at 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: The facilities in our department are good. We have Wi-Fi and the lab equipment is in great shape. Our classrooms are clean, spacious, and equipped with projectors. The library is huge with over 200,000 books. The medical and sports facilities are top-notch. The hostels are a bit old and not great for second-year students but they are okay for most others. The food in the mess which I will honestly rate a 2 out of 5.
Faculty: Teachers are very qualified and always ready to help. They are knowledgeable and communicative. The course curriculum is solid focusing on preparing students for the job market. The semester exams can be a bit challenging but the high pass rate shows that the programme is well thought out and executed.

NITs does not offer admission in B.Tech courses through lateral entry mode. The JEE-Main exam is the only way for NIT's B.Tech courses.

Firstly, you have to appear for the entrance exam JEE mains and after clearing mains stage you had to appear in JEE advanced stage. For NIT, you must score below 5000 rank. With AIR 22205, CSE is tough to get there, but there are some chances of mechanical engineering. Maybe, you will get ME in the 3rd or 4th round of counselling. Best of luck.
