TANCET counselling is conducted around a month after the scorecard download window is closed. TANCET counselling is held in multiple rounds, including publication of rank list, general counselling for MBA and MCA, supplementary counselling for bith MBA and MCA.

Every year Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai invites application from eligible Degree holders for admission to MBA/ MCA courses offered in Government, Government Aided Engineering and Arts and Science Colleges, University Departments of Anna University/ Regional Centres, Annamalai University.

A student can enroll to the institute through CAT, but it is not a criteria by virtue of which is extremely not mandatory for admission. If a person wants to go through this, he/she must have appeared and excelled with the stipulated cut off in either of the exams which are MAT, CAT, TANCET and ATMA. TANCET scores are valid for a period of one year. Candidates aspiring for admission in 2023-24 exam session can only use the TANCET 2023 scores for admission. Candidates who wish for an MBA Admission in any of the TANCET participating colleges in 2024-25 batch must appear for TANCET 2024.

Irrespective of the 2023 score, DTE Tamil Nadu will not consider the TANCET 2023 scores for 2024 admission. Similarly, candidates planning to apply for MBA Admission in 2025-26 batch, must apply for the TANCET 2025 exam.
