RGIPT follows the seat reservation policy for the BTech programme as per the Government of India directive. In addition, following the Government of India directive and to encourage technical education among the girls, few seats are reserved for female candidates on supernumerary basis over the current strength. However, certificates for SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL)/ PwD/ EWS category must be submitted during the time of admission.

RGIPT BTech application forms 2024 are out and the last date for receiving applications for the first round of admissions to BTech programme is Jul 7, 2024. The list of selected candidates will be declared on Jul 9, 2024 and, last date for seat blocking by paying INR 30,000 is Jul 12, 2024.

RGIPT fee structure for a two-year M.Tech programme is broken down into multiple components, such as tuition fee, hostel fee and one-time fee. Apart from the tuition fee of INR 40,000, candidates are required to pay the one-time fee of INR 16,000 which includes admission fee, alumni membership fee, student's welfare fund, thesis fees and caution money (refundable) and the hostel fee of INR 60,000. This fee is sourced from the official website of the institute/ sanctioning body. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology does not offer any scholarship to the M.Tech programme students but provide financial assistance in the form of Institute Assistantships to students admitted under the Full Time Regular Registration Category.Presently, assistantships at INR 12,400 pm are available for GATE-qualified candidates. Non- GATE qualified candidates, admitted to the programmes at the EIB Centre will be provided with an Institute assistantship of INR 8,000 pm. A student shall be assigned duties up to eight hours per week by the departments to avail teaching assistantship. There are a large number of Institute Fellowships available for M.Tech programme students in various disciplines.

RGIPT admission is entrance and merit-based. The institute offers admission through national entrance exams like JEE Main, MAT, XAT, GATE, and others. Candidates must qualify for the entrance exam before the application process. The institute offers admission through online application. Candidates seeking admission to the MBA core programme offered at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology must meet the RGIPT MBA eligibility criteria. Candidates who have a valid score in the entrance exams must obtain at least 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) in the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations and must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 60% aggregate or 6 CPI on 10 point scale (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates).Candidates who do not have a score in the entrance exams must obtain at least 65% aggregate (60% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) in the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations and must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 65% aggregate or 6.5 CPI on 10 point scale (60% aggregate or 6.0 CPI for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates).
