Feels a little high than IITs though it is a central government college.
Placements: We have a batch strength of 58 students in Electronic Engineering. Around 70 percent of the students are placed in the EE branch. The average package is 10 LPA. There is no company going to come below 8 LPA from this year 2025 according to the director’s instructions. There is an analog company that came to hire at 31 LPA for EE students.
Infrastructure: Hostels are pretty good. They have provided spacious rooms, clean and the finest. There are proper facilities of Wi-Fi and library, IIT-type classrooms. Labs are fully equipped with machines and instruments. One best thing is the good mess food quality. It feels like homemade food. There are also sports facilities of all kinds, including indoor games.
Faculty: Teachers mainly come who have done Ph.D. or Masters from abroad. I might say that they are qualified enough. The curriculum is good, there is a lab and workshop every week. Basically, semester exams are easy for those who study a little bit. They repeat questions from previous years. Almost 90 percent of students pass the semester examination (not sure).
Other: One thing I would like to add is that RGIPT has good JEE Advanced students, which provides a competitive environment. Though it feels a little higher than the IITs, it maintains the quality.

Not very satisfied, but I did not have any other option, so it's okay to study here.
Placements: So, talking about placements, the Petroleum and Chemical branches are way better here. We can see PSUs for them, and for CSE, ECE, EV, MNC, and IT, we have quite low numbers. The teaching branches are shifted to the Bangalore Campus for their final year. A few companies visited the campus in Bangalore. Now, for my batch, companies are coming, and hopes are high. The highest till now from our year is Flipkart for 33 LPA.
Infrastructure: The hostel is new, and the facilities are great at the Amethi campus. Food is decent, and labs are fully equipped, but the library is small for the crowd. Now, talking about the Bangalore Campus, the hostel is very new, but there are no good facilities at all. Wi-Fi is horrible here compared to the Amethi campus. Connectivity is okay at Amethi, but at Bangalore, it's very far from the city.
Faculty: The curriculum is not good at all (I am talking with respect to my branch, EV). The faculty focuses mainly on GATE and government job exams, and lastly, Ph.D. exams. No proper guidance or help for placement and job-ready skills; they only want us to attend lectures and score marks, which depend on rote learning.
Other: I chose my course, i.e., Electrical Eng. Major in EV, because I wish to learn a core branch. However, that major in EV is just a gimmick. The campus crowd is good, and events are great. Fests occur at a great level too.

College is great, but it has a small campus, and the location is quite far from the city.
Placements: Placement ratio for Chemical and Petroleum is almost 98 to 99%. You need to maintain a decent CPI and get good companies like IOCL, and PSU. Also, you can try for off-campus placements and clear exams like GATE, CAT, etc. The tech branches don’t have good placements.
Infrastructure: There are outdoor and indoor games in the college with well and good infrastructure. The campus is clean and tidy. It also has a beautiful garden and a statue. There are two academic blocks, and every kind of lab is available in the college.
Faculty: Faculty can vary according to your branch, and in the end, it depends on the person to develop skills and create a better version of themselves. There are weekly quizzes and a large library to help the students. The seniors can also be very helpful in academics.
Other: College organizes many fests. The major fests are Urjotsav and Kalarang, etc. These are cultural and sports events that are very fun to attend.

Not at all satisfied, poor.
Placements: Placements are so poor. We pay more than 12 lakhs in fees, even though it is a central government college still we do not get a 3 LPA job at TCS. College on campus is very poor. Companies don't come here and they send the CS department to Bangalore in 4th year in the name of exposure. But only we know what the reality is. Recently, a 3rd-year student did suicide but this college is shameless enough to even hold some sympathy.
Infrastructure: Construction is still ongoing on and only two academic blocks are there. Wi-Fi doesn't work properly even after complaining a lot they don't fix it. Library is good and classrooms are good too but still, there's a need for more enhancement. Talking about the hostel even after a hefty amount they clean our room only once in 15 days. Wi-Fi is very poor. Medical facilities are the worst in the name of health center, all they have is bitadine and cotton.
Faculty: Even the HOD for the CS department is from the civil branch. They do not have good faculty members who are specialized enough for particular CS branch. Faculty members are well qualified but they are not as specialized in CS. They don't even know how to teach good. Students have to prepare all on their own to get off-campus placements.
Other: No proper sports facilities are here, we are not provided with a proper coach to train us. College life is the worst even though they get a good amount from the government. Still fest life is bad here, no artists and nothing creative. Good thing we can talk about official sitting here eating all of our money.

Beyond rankings, a realistic look at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology RGIPT.
Placements: The average placement rate for Petroleum Engineering students over the last 4 years is around 60 to 70%. The highest package is around 25 LPA cost to the company from ONGC, the lowest is around 6 LPA, and the average package is around 10 LPA. The top recruiting companies are ONGC, OIL, Sunpetro Chemical, Shell CPCL, Torrent Gas, IOAGPL, etc. Over the past 3 years, around 30% of students have get private internships with companies like Selan Exploration, Telesto Energy, ExxonMobil, and Essar, which were later converted into PPOs. The rest of students have interned at PSUs like ONGC and OIL. Roles offered are Graduate Engineering Trainee, Assistant Executive Engineer Drilling, Production, Associate Engineer Process Data, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and hostel facilities are good at RGIPT. Wi-Fi connections are average, but laboratories and classrooms are best for the petroleum domain. The space in hostel rooms is good, and the mess food is above average. The canteen is open until 3 AM. Sports and medical facilities are less than average and not that good.
Faculty: Faculty members are helpful and qualified, but not that much as compared to IITs. The teaching quality is average, while the course curriculum is above average and relevant to the petroleum industry, making students ready for the industry. The semester exams are above average in difficulty, and there are very strict rules and regulations set by the academic. But, the pass percentage is around 95%.
Other: The best thing about Petroleum Engineering is that this stream is affiliated with the energy sector, which will be a major issue in the future. The best part is that there is a chance to get government jobs, like ONGC and OIL, which is best for a 22-year-old individual. I want my future in the energy domain, so I joined this specific institute for petroleum engineering. This is an autonomous institute by the Act of Parliament, so the government should take care of it regarding placements and work to increase the average package. The institute provides a merit-cum-means scholarship of Rs. 25,000 per semester. The institute is average in terms of fests, events, and connectivity.

College placements are good for the Chemical and Petroleum branches.
Placements: I am studying in the CSE branch. Since the tech branches started a few years ago, placements are not as good compared to the Chemical and Petroleum branches. Almost 30% of students get placed through campus placements in the first batch of CSE. The average package is around 8 LPA.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available everywhere, including classrooms, the library, and hostel rooms. Each classroom has an AC and a projector for teaching. Each hostel room accommodates two students and has two fans. Each floor has washing machines. The mess food is good. The night canteen starts at 10 p.m. and is affordable. There is a health center on our college campus.
Faculty: All professors are qualified, and some of them are helpful. Our curriculum follows IIT Kanpur. We are taught courses similar to those in other colleges, but the professors are not as good as in other colleges. Semester exams range from moderate to easy, and most students pass them. Almost 90% of students clear these exams.
Other: I choose this course because I was getting a lower branch in other colleges through JoSAA counselling. The best thing about my course is that we study AI as part of the curriculum. I hope to have better professors in our course. The campus size is 47 acres. The tech fest, Urjotsav, the sports fest, Energia, and the cultural fest, Kaltrang, are held every year.

RGIPT allows admission without CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT/CUET-PG score under two circumstances. First, you should be a company-sponsored candidate. Second, if you belong to part time registration category. You will still have to fulfil the remaining eligibility criteria.

You will not be eligible for admission as preparatory ranks are not considered under round 1. Since you have already qualified to appear for JEE (Advanced), all you need to do is meet the second criterion and apply for round 2, which will be only conducted if seats from round 1 remain vacant.

Yes, you can still get admission in Round 2 if you meet eligibility criteria to appear in JEE (Advanced) and have a valid JEE (Mains) rank. Also, you must have scored 60% or above in class 12th. For SC/ST/PwD category students, 55% or above is required.
