As such there are no multiple SJMSOM Counselling rounds for MBA cutoff . Candidates who appear in the CAT 2023 are eligible for counselling only if they get the required minimum marks as per the eligibility criteria SJMSOM. Also, all candidates who appeared in the written exam and are interested in admission must submit appear for the personal interviews. Going as per the past year trends, SJMSOM Counselling 2024 is to be conducted in three steps. First step is appaer for CAT, second step is to qualigy for the round and finally appear for the interview.
SJMSOM MBA cutoff 2024 is determined considering the below-mentioned factors:
- Total number of candidates who appear for the examination
- The difficulty level of the examination
- Performance of the candidate
- Number of seats available
SJMSOM MBA admission 2024 is based on CAT 2023 scores. Only candidates who have appeared for CAT are eligible for MBA admissions at SJMSOM. CAT exam has three sections namely, VARC, DILR and Quantitative Aptitude, candidates seeking SJMSOM MBA admissions must meet both the sectional as well as total CAT cutoff. The expected CAT cutoff for VARC is 75, DILR is 75, Quantitative Aptitude is 75 and the overall is 90. It is only after meeting the expected cutoff, candidates are called for further rounds of admission.
SJMSOM conducts Personal interviews or Counselling for allocation of seats after the CAT results have been released. SJMSOM releases two lists the first one is the shortlist for the eligible candidates who have been selected for interview. Further, the institute releases the final list of candidates who have been finally selected and allocated the seat in the institute. Shailesh J Mehta School of Management seat allotment results are released online on the official admission website. Candidates, who have participated in the admission process will be able to check the seat allotment results by logging in to the official portal using their credentials.
Candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme at SJSMSOM, IIT Bombay must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Also, the candidate should have a valid rank in CAT exam based on which they will be shortlisted for the Personal Interview (PI) round.
The final merit list for candidates selected for the MBA programme at SJSOM, IIT Bombay will be based on candidate’s composite score of different parameters which includes CAT overall score, personal interaction (PI) and candidate profile.
Aspirants with a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in any discipline with 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ST) can apply. Further, CA, ICWA, CFA, CS, or FRM with a first-class bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ST) can also apply. SJMSOM IIT Bombay also accept applications from candidates appearing for the final degree examination. However, in such a case, the final admission is subject to the fulfilment of the eligibility conditions at the time of admission.

Yes, it necessary to have overall as well section wise CAT percentile above the closing percentile mentioned in the SJMSOM cut-off list for admission to the flagship MBA programme. According to the cut-off list released by SJMSOM, IIT Bombay for the year 2022. The minimum overall CAT percentile required for admission to the MBA programme was 90. Also, the minimum section wise CAT percentile was 50. Candidates based on their CAT percentile will be shortlisted for the Personal Interview (PI) round.
Given below is the eligibility criteria for PhD in management programme at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay:
- BE/ BTech with a minimum of 60% aggregate/ 6.5 CPI (55% aggregate/ 6.0 CPI for reserved categories) and at least two years of work experience.
- Master of Management /ME / MTech / MPharm/ MPhil/2 years MBA or 2 years PG Diploma in Management from any institute recognized by a Government body (AICTE / UGC/AIU) with a minimum of 60% aggregate/ 6.5 CPI (55%/ 6.0 CPI for reserved categories)
- Executive MBA of at least one year duration from IITs/IIMs or any institute recognized by a Government body (AICTE/ UGC / AIU) with a minimum of 60% aggregate/ 6.5 CPI (55%/ 6.0 CPI for reserved categories)
- MSc/ MA/ MCom/ LLM/ MCA or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate/ 6.5 CPI (55%/ 6.0 CPI for reserved categories)
There is no such provision for direct admission to the PhD programme at SJMSOM. Candidates seeking admission to the PhD in management programme should fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
- BE/ BTech with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for reserved categories) and at least two years of work experience.
- Master of Management /ME / M.Tech / MPharm/ MPhil/2 years MBA or 2 year PG Diploma in Management from any institute recognised by a Government body (AICTE / UGC/AIU) with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for reserved categories)
- Executive MBA of at least one-year duration from IITs/IIMs or any institute recognised by a Government body (AICTE/ UGC / AIU) with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for reserved categories)
- MSc/MA/ MCom/LLM/MCA or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for reserved categories)
Also, Candidates should have valid score in any of the entrance exams such as UGC-JRF/UGC-NET/CSIR-JRF/CSIR-NET/GATE/CAT/GMAT/GRE and candidates should write a research proposal (1500 words) on a topic of their interest in place of Statement of Purpose. It should contain a) problem identification, b) brief review of literature, and c) methodology.

Yes, candidate having CAT percentile above 93 will be shortlisted for the Personal Interview (PI) round. According to the cut-off list released by SJMSOM, IIT Bombay for the year 2022. The minimum overall CAT percentile required for admission to the MBA programme was 90. Also, the minimum section wise CAT percentile was 50.

There is no such management quota for admission to any of the programmes offered at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay. SJMSOM, IIT Bombay courses admission are completely entrance exam based. Candidates seeking admission to any of the course at SJMSOM must have valid score in the required entrance exam as mentioned in the eligibility and selection criteria for that particular programme.

For admission to SJMSOM for the flagship MBA course, the result of CAT 2023 can be expected by the last week of December 2023 (If the CAT conducting body follows the trend as in 2022). However, if the trend is not followed, the same will most probably be out by the first week of January 2024. After the release of result, the exam takers will be able to download their CAT scorecards from the official website using their login credentials for SJMSOM admission.
