Diploma in Nautical Science - Batch of 2022
2.0
Review of Southern Academy of Maritime Studies.
Placements: SAMS College was good for students who had sponsorship on a DNS course. It is better to choose another marine college.
Infrastructure: Facilities were not good and facilities were so pathetic. Everything over here was fake. They needed some money. Our hostel facilities were not so good. They said that there would be air-conditioning and washing machines but there were none. Medical facilities were not available. They wouldn't allow for medical issues. The food served was not good and the mess was not cleaned up even in the hostel.
Faculty: Faculty members were almost good but they won't complete the chapters at the time of the exam. There were no study materials. Everything in our college was so old that many things wouldn't work. They didn't have proper facilities for students' practicals.
Other: Our college was strict and they did not conduct other functions.

2.2
Review of Southern Academy of Maritime Studies.
Placements: There are no placements from this college. During admissions, they lie about companies that would select you after your course. The staff will lie to you until you are convinced to take admission here. In the end, they would ask you to pay 5 Lacs for placements in some poor companies.
Infrastructure: The dorms and buildings are below average. You have to clean your own cabins sharing with 7 other students, i.e., 8 people share a room. Some cabins accommodate 4 people, but they are ill-ventilated. Chennai becomes pretty hot during summers, but the air-conditioners don't work properly. Only South Indian food is available, so North Indian students better avoid this place. There are no facilities like Wi-Fi, simulators etc.
Faculty: The faculty members are quite good here, but only the marine-related faculty are good, and the rest are not. Our English teacher cannot speak English properly. Our science teacher is very confused about the subject. I faced a little racism there as I am from the North, due to which I was given less marks in internals. You need to be careful here.
Other: I would suggest you to please avoid this college.

Certificate in G.P RATING (Part Time) - Batch of 2017
3.8
It is a very good college to learn many things for the future.
Placements: Around 40% of the students got placed in our batch. The highest salary offered in our course was Rs. 20,000 per month. None of the top companies visits our college. I paid around 3 lacs for a GP rating course, and no extra fees were charged. Around 50% of the students got an internship with Ships and Nautilus Shipping.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi was available for students. There were good surroundings of nature, practical classes, yoga, exercise, gym, and playground. The hostel facilities were good, and there was a great canteen. For a medical facility, a doctor visited the campus every Tuesday and Friday. The food served was hygienic, and all sports equipment were available. There was a huge ground to play.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were very helpful in studying and everything. They all were experienced and were helping to improve our knowledge and many things. They were good even in teaching practicals. The course curriculum was relevant, and it makes every student succeed in life. They were teaching everything so that students can achieve everything.
Other: I opted for the course because it is for a limited period of 6 months course and its send us directly to a job at the age of 19. Even its easier to study. The things which are to be improved in college are the classrooms. All the other things provided were good. Good scholarships were provided, and the college organises games every month.

I am satisfied to study here, and I am working.
Placements: Our college has many companies in the surroundings.
Infrastructure: Our college has a great environment, and the fees are also basic. They also provide coaching, trips and industrial visits. Labs are equipped with all equipment, and the environment will be suited for students. It is the best college. Buses are also available here to near the city. The hostel is Wi-Fi enabled. Food served is good, and they serve vegetarian, non-vegetarian, tea and snacks. They also provide television and sports time for students. We can roam around inside the campus, and there are good shops outside the campus. The stationery shop is also available. It is very fun to study here.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful, friendly, and they know all the things which we need. Quality of teaching was good. Asking questions and getting answers was not an issue here, and they tell without hesitation. They are up to the core, so we can easily pass in the exams without arrears. Special classes are also conducted here.
Other: Our college provides scholarships for students.

An honest review on Southern Academy of Maritime Studies.
Placements: There are no placements in our college. DNS is a sponsored course, but you can join this college without being sponsored, as this college doesn't follow the rules. So, they will take an extra amount and will give you a seat for doing DNS in this college. After the completion of your course, if you clear all the subjects, then they will ask you for 4-5 lakhs as a fee for placements as a deck cadet in ships. They will provide placements by taking money.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is neither good nor bad. There is no maintenance. If you want to live in a clean place, you have to clean the place by yourself. No facilities will be given by this college. This is good for seafarers life as you have to do every work by yourself. So, before joining this college, just be habituated of doing your work by yourself.
Faculty: The faculty members in our college are mind-blowing. The only appreciable thing in the college is that it provides the best faculty, but only in marine-related subjects. One thing I like about this college is that they take quick actions and do their best if you have any problems related to faculty.
Other: We get only South Indian food but not North Indian food. It's not good for Noth Indians, and now, they are trying to change it.

The worse place to stay no security, irresponsible staffs, management is on paper only.
Placements: There is nothing like placement in this college. There is an agent named Wainktess, and he may give you ship instead of money. He asked me nine lakhs for that, so better to be on your own. On admission time they may show you sponsor letter, but all of them are fake there is no any sponsorship and placement is also nill, so better to carry own sponsor.
Infrastructure: The college has an uneven playground of nursery school size, and the dormitory ceiling keeps falling. There is a big problem with water and electricity every time, and also no any emergency facility available in the college. If you are thinking about a hostel with good facilities, then don't try to go there because you may suffer from a shortage of water and electricity others you can imagine yourself.
Faculty: The faculty members of the college are up to mark, but all you need to be on yourself. The course is completing on time on paper but in real undesirable, if you are good in self-study, then this is good. The faculty members are trying to give there best from there level, but due to the shortage of accommodation and technology, it becomes too hard for them.

Good for GP, other than that, don't take admission here.
Placements: There is no placement on the college campus. They charge five Lacs for placements, and they have to wait for the student to get on a ship. There is no proper placement cell. No proper preparation for the interview. The faculty do not help in preparing. They only want money, nothing else.
Infrastructure: The campus is too small. There is only one building for college and hostel. Both buildings are joined. There are very crowded hostel rooms. There are broken bathroom and toilet. No A/C in the room and class. In summer, it is very hot inside. No proper canteen area. Dogs and cats roam around the canteen during lunch.
Faculty: For GP, the faculty are good. Even for Diploma in nautical science, the faculty are there. But, for other courses, there are very poor faculty. They don't cover all the syllabus. The teachers are supportive, but office faculty are not good. They don't treat students like a human being.

Fully satisfied with the faculty. Other than the faculty, everything is below average.
Placements: First of all, if you need placement from college, you should not head to this college, because this institute is very poor in the placements. And, if you can pay money other than college fee, then you will get placements in a good company. Also, as this is a marine college, nowadays placements are done only in few colleges. And the main thing, if you have a sponsor from a company and have the choice of selecting the college, then you can select this because of the perfect faculty present here.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure here is good, and the architecture of the college is awesome. The hostel rooms here are good enough to stay, and the classrooms are awesome here with a fully furnished and fully equipped labs with all the equipment. There are also fields to play cricket, football, volleyball and basketball. The food in the canteen is like, if you are a South Indian, then you may like it, but if you are a North Indian then definitely you won't like it. I am a South Indian and I doesn't like it as the food made here was the worst. Our batch also used to have fights with them regularly as of the food problem, but it does not solve any problem.
Faculty: I think the southern academy of the maritime studies is good only because of the faculty. This academy recruits an excellent faculty with a good experience. Due to these excellent faculty, they use to complete our course curriculum from time to time and exactly to the maximum knowledge required. The faculty in 2016-2017 was really awesome, and I was lucky to have them. They also explained not only the stuff in books, but also out of syllabus subjects when required. If anyone of them sees this, I really want to say "Thankyou."
Other: The seats here are limited, and the faculty for other courses is also awesome, and the remaining is the same.
