MBA in International Transportation and Logistics Management - Batch of 2026
3.6

A tour to the IMU, Visakhapatnam SMM campus.
Placements: 95% of students got placed. The highest package is 12 LPA, the average package is 8 LPA to 9 LPA, and the lowest is 4.2 LPA. Companies such as All Cargo Gati, Mahindra Logistics, and a few more are offered. Students are working as interns in VCTPL as well as Concor, and some of them got opportunities to do internships at minor ports.
Infrastructure: Hostel infrastructure is decent. The campus size is not too big, but the amenities are good. Centralized AC classrooms, library, and Wi-Fi are available in the hostel as well. The quality of food is average. Smart classrooms, small badminton court, and basketball court are also there, along with some other indoor games.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified and helpful for academic issues. The curriculum is relevant, and continuous changes are being made in order to introduce new courses related to the field. Talking about the semester exams, it is not very difficult if the individual regularly follows the lectures and goes through the notes before the exams.
Other: I chose this course because I'm interested in customs and export-import documentation and freight movement, so it's a good option. The course can have some exposure to practical operation, which is already initiated at a basic level through industrial visits, but it can be improved by keeping sessions about the tools and technologies used in the organizations.

Apprenticeship Embedded (BBA) in Maritime Logistics - Batch of 2026
4.6

The new style of education with IMU Visakhapatnam.
Placements: In Indian Maritime University, Visakhapatnam, I'm studying BBA logistics, and it is an apprenticeship-based course. The total there are 6 semesters (3 years). The first 4 semesters are class programs only, and the last year is an apprenticeship. The highlight of these courses is that they are core-based courses. And for completing these courses, we get a package of 3.20 LPA. It is a LSC (logistics skill council) like course. Therefore, all companies that are listed under these courses will also be available for the placement time. The college is providing 100% placement.
Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi, mess, computer labs, library, and everything is there in this college, and the usage of updated technology like smart TV and projectors is there for better education. Talking about mess food, it is good food, that's it. The basketball court is good for playing games over there.
Faculty: All the teachers are assistant professors, and some of the teachers are guest lecturers. They are well knowledgeable about this course. They clear all the doubts. The curriculum of the course mainly focuses on management and the core (Maritime logistics). Subjects are a little hard but okay, and with the help of lectures, we can easily understand. For each semester, 3 exams are conducted. There are mainly 2 exams for internal, and the last exam is the main exam. In the last 2 semesters, there has been an apprenticeship.
Other: These courses are mainly for 3 years, the first 2 years are classroom lectures, and the last year is an apprenticeship. The negative of these courses is that we have a limited time for studying for the exam. Exams are back-to-back, mainly internal exams. Many events are held and celebrated at every festival. Sports, literature activities, etc., are conducted.

College is overall good, but needs more attention from the public and government.
Placements: Placements are above average, like if you are good at studies, then you can be placed in a good company. All you need are good communication skills. You need to search for the best company you want to apply to. The college tries its best to get you placed in any company.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, with AC classrooms, the best computer labs, and a good mess. There is an electricity and water supply. One room accommodates 2 people. The hostel warden is also very helpful in nature, and the staff will take care of you. People are helpful in nature. As per my experience, no theft has happened yet inside the college hostel. The hostel is also not far from the college campus. It's only a 2-minute walk.
Faculty: The faculty members are good and helpful, especially when it comes to studies and assignments, which are beneficial for the course. There are different subjects to learn, especially about the shipping course. They teach all the required documents related to the shipping sector. Also, they take students on an industrial trip to seaports, which is really good to learn hands-on experience.
Other: College is good, but as a government institute, it needs more importance and advertising.

B.Tech. in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering - Batch of 2025

Decent and affordable option to study Naval Architecture.
Placements: Really hardworking placement. Though it's an exclusive industry, the placement cell tries their best to get the student placed. Ship design firms are the primary recruiters. Consider yourself blessed if classification societies and big shipyards show up.
Infrastructure: The hostel is really cozy and comfortable. Clean and decent ambience. Calm and serene environment for students to study. Mess food is delectable for a university. Free Wi-Fi is available. The campus gets extremely hot in summers and extremely cold in winters.
Faculty: Faculty is really helpful. The only thing is you need to approach them and put yourself out there. The course is quite difficult. The terms and concepts might be foreign to students from non-maritime backgrounds. Take your projects seriously.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to do something in the maritime industry. All cultural festivals are celebrated in joy and unity.

B.Tech. in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering - Batch of 2027

3Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty2Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
Amazing environment for those who are interested in academics.
Placements: I have enrolled in a B.Teach in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding. My batch strength is 50 students; however, there is another batch of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering with 50 students. The first-year batch consists of 100 students, 50 in shipbuilding and 50 in ocean engineering. Most of the students get internships in firms like Vedam located in Mumbai or different shipyards in the third year of their course. We have a placement record of 95 percent as of this year, and some students opted for higher studies, and a few were not interested in sitting for the placements. Top recruiting companies include the IRS (Indian Register of Shipping), located in Mumbai, and L&T, which is located in 3 different states. According to requirements, students are placed in different sections. The top role that is offered after graduation is that of surveyor in the IRS itself.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is better as compared to other colleges; we have a separate building for academics and separate hostels, which are at a very short distance and there is also a lot of construction going on in our college. We have AC classrooms for the students and there is Wi-Fi, which runs at a good speed at academics Sometimes we face issues regarding Wi-Fi in our hostels. The quality of Food in the mess is above average and it also depends on the place from which students are coming. Overall, the food in the mess is average. There is a Gym in the hostel and also facilities to play carrom, table tennis, etc. We have a Library located in the Academic building and all kinds of books are available in the library. There is ground for Football, Cricket, and basketball; however, work is still going on to make it better.
Faculty: Here, the teachers are very helpful, and all the faculty members have done Ph.D.s in their respective subjects. We have our schedule for the whole semester, and we all follow it. During that time, we are not allowed to go anywhere else without the permission of the faculty members and warden. We can ask any questions related to subjects by visiting the respective faculty. According to me, this course is very relevant as it makes a student industry-ready and also helps students build new skills and interact with professionals in our field by doing internships. We have 8 semesters in total. 2 semesters per year, and the difficulty of the examinations depends on the students. Here, the passing percentage is 50 percent, and we also have 85 percent attendance required to sit for the examination.
Other: I have chosen Naval Architecture and Ship Building as my course and have chosen this course because I was always inclined towards the Indian Navy, and I thought this course would provide me with more opportunities to be in the field of Navy and also provide a lot of opportunities for someone who wants to live near the sea. Originally, I am from Mumbai, and therefore, coastal areas are also my favorite. Scholarships were provided before the COVID period, but they have been removed as of now.

Apprenticeship Embedded (BBA) in Maritime Logistics - Batch of 2025

It’s really good because it is apprenticeship-embedded
Placements: If we are talking about the placements, it is pretty good, but the CTC is not up to the mark. 100% of the people got internships, and after that, placement was also 100%, but only a few companies came for placement like OM Logistics and other logistical companies. They offer roles like warehouse executive, operations executive, logistics coordinator, and so on.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is pretty well. We have one basketball court and a badminton court. Other than that, Wi-Fi and fully digital classrooms are available. Talking about the mess food, I will say it’s okay, and you can’t expect too much, but it’s nice comparatively.
Faculty: The best thing about this place is its faculty members. They are very helpful and down to earth, you can call them and ask any doubts, it’s like that. On the other hand, the curriculum of the course is superb, and it makes students industry-ready. The passing percentage is around 80% on average because the exams are a little bit difficult
Other: I chose campus because I wanted to go into the shipping sector, but placement can be improved to make it more worthy for the students. Every year, the main event happens at the IMU Chennai campus, which is our HQ, and we go there. But on our campus, we also organize such events. Overall, it was fun.
