SPICE Students Attend Mumbai Press Club Session on Judiciary and Press Freedom
August 12, 2025: As part of their Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication training, students from St Pauls Institute of Communication Education recently attended “Holding the Government to Account: the role of an independent judiciary and a free press” at the prestigious Mumbai Press Club.
The keynote speaker, Hon’ble Justice (Retd.) Abhay Oka, retired judge of the Supreme Court of India, shared deep insights on the vital connection between an independent judiciary and a free press, and how both play a critical role in safeguarding democracy. This unique learning opportunity aligns with SPICE’s mission to provide postgraduate students in Journalism, Mass Communication, and Digital Media with real-world industry exposure beyond the classroom. Such events help students gain practical understanding of governance, press freedom, and ethical reporting — essential skills for future media professionals.
