Q:   Is the BTech Mechanical Engineering syllabus the same for all colleges?
    A:

The BTech Mechanical Engineering syllabus is not the same across all colleges, as every college committee sets a particular coursework pattern at the start of every academic year to be followed for the respective batch. The syllabus includes some core subjects, interesting electives, and lab work that gives detailed knowledge to the students about the workings of the field.

Q:   Does the BTech Electrical Engineering syllabus focus more on theory or practical application?
    A:

The syllabus for the B Tech EE course focuses on both aspects because they are equally important for you to do well at the workplace in the future. There are theory classes to make you understand the meaning and workings of the Electrical Engineering concepts, and practical lab work and industrial training to give you a glimpse of the real-world applications.

Dissatisfied because of the college management.
Placements: The placement drives are organised every month. Companies like Tech Mahindra, Godrej, and other local companies visit the campus for placements. However, the placement numbers are not as expects. Students here lack many skills. The highest salary package offered is 4-5 LPA. The college conducts workshops and seminars, but they are not that helpful as they don't do anything as per students' wish. Companies don't find their required candidates here.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. There are four blocks for different colleges. A cafe and ATM are available on the campus. We also have open-air auditoriums. The infrastructure of the college is good as compared to nearby colleges.
Faculty: The faculty members of our college are good, and the syllabus gets completed on time. But the management often gives them extra workload. However, our faculty members are not PhD holders. They are sharing good knowledge that is efficient for students. Faculty members of the college are don't usually teach us about the concepts beyond the syllabus. Students don't even understand the concepts taught by them at times. They don't try to develop the students' skills, and they don't even have practical knowledge.
Other: Every semester the college organises many events. As far as the students of the engineering course are concerned, they pressurise the students by informing them about the events just before 2-3 days. The campus crowd of the college is good. The college management provides many extracurricular activities like sports, but sports activities are not organised frequently. The campus surroundings are good. The hostel is good, but the mess is not that good. EWe are not allowed to participate in workshops conducted in distant places such as workshops in IITs and companies like Infosys.

The best engineering college in Punjab.
Placements: I have done my B.Tech from Universal. There are the several campus placement on the campus. The students get chance to show their skills to the companies. Good companies are always coming to the campus for the campus drive. Most of them get a job through the campus placement.
Infrastructure: The college has the best infrastructure compared to the nearby all colleges. They have divided their building blocks accordingly to the courses. They have the best labs with fully equipped equipment. There are the playing games on the ground. They provided almost everything, which needs to be necessary. The building is the best.
Faculty: We have the best faculty members. They are eager to communicate things with the students. The several courses are going on as the teachers are highly qualified as per the class assigned to them. Almost, all the technical and the non-technical courses are there on the campus, and the nursing course is also available.

With mechanical department, I am not fully satisfied, as the placement is approximately 55%.
Placements: There will be very rare placements in college which will disappoint the students. In my sessions, there was only 10% placement. All of the students are disappointed as they will be placed in lower companies with the package of Rs. 1,20,000 per annum. No student will be happy as their requirement of knowledge is not being met.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good and is sufficient enough to the students, but there are fewer timings of using labs. They will have less IT labs which can be attended when you are free. So, no one is using the labs. Also, the college campus style is good. When you do not pay the fee at the time, they will take your admit card and say first pay your all dues.
Faculty: Some of the faculty do not teach good, as they will destroy our careers. But some of the teachers are good. They will help to improve our career. Also, the fee structure is different for anybody. The teachers are also not very helpful, but some teachers are helpful. The admission consultants tell to help the students in their papers, which they don't and take more money from the students.
Other: In the college, there will be more events. Also, there will be a less campus crowd due to the non-regular students. Also, there will be less connectivity to the college.

Good infra, poor placements in 2013. poor bus service, but cheaper college as compared to others
Placements: They offered us a job in their own college but no placement companies have visited. My batch was the first batch of UGI in civil engineering, so there was no senior batch. Some of us got the lecturer job in the same college in the diploma wing. Around 10% have been placed. The salary was 250000-300000 PA INR. No placements were done at that time from companies because none of the companies visited the college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was good and Wi-Fi was provided. Labs were full of instruments but the food quality was a little poor. They don't let us go out of college when we are on the campus, even when the lecture was not there. You have to take permission from the HOD first. The bus service was poor as there was no bus service in between the day who wants to go home early.
Faculty: The faculty team was helpful, knowledgeable and qualified. They use the board to teach. There were around 12 teachers in the civil engineering department for 150 students. My experience with faculty members was great as they helped me a lot in exam preparation and library book issue.

There is nothing that dissatisfies me.
Placements: Up to 50% of students got placements. The highest package without hostel was 1.8 LPA. Junior Engineer was the initial role offered by companies. There were a lot of companies. More than 50% of students got internships from this course. The rest should be checked on Google. Make sure yourself before.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities were top-notch, and classrooms were good. The library had available books related to the course you were pursuing. Wi-Fi facility was also available. The mess and canteen food were average. The medical facilities were available. Sports and games were excellent. The college was well-maintained, and others were also well-managed.
Faculty: Teachers were qualified and knowledgeable. It made students industry-ready. I didn't think it was that much difficult, you should concentrate and do self-study without depending on faculty members. The pass percentage was probably above 50%, though there might be other criteria.
Other: Because I had done a diploma in the same course.
