IKGPTU Admission Dates 2025
I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University offers UG and PG, PG diploma, integrated, and doctoral courses in various fields. Admission are merit-based entrance exams such as JEE Main, GATE, and PTU CET are also accepted.
To be eligible for BTech admission at IKGPTU, students must passed Class 12 (10+2) with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories). The aspirant's performance in Class 12 along with their JEE Main scores and ranks are considered for admission to the BTech courses. Additionally, the student must also meet the minimum eligibility criteria. Eligible candidates with a valid JEE Main score can further fill out the IKGPTU application form online (ptu.ac.in). The university releases a merit list after the conclusion of the application process followed by which selected students are called for counselling.
Candidates are offered seat in IK Gujral Punjab Technical University MBA based on merit in the last qualifying exam. Aspirants must complete their bachelor's degree with at least 50% aggregate for MBA. There is a 5% relaxation in the aggregate for IKGPTU MBA course. The university prepares the merit list based on the qualifying exam score of the candidates.
Candidates who have passed class 12 from a recognised board can apply for the BPharm regular course. For the BPharm Lateral course, applicants shall have a three-year Diploma in pharmacy from a recognised university or state board of technical education. IKGPTU, formerly known as Punjab Technical University 25+ UG and PG level courses at the main campus. Students can pursue UG or PG-level programmes in 9+ streams. The department offers courses such as BTech, BArch, BBA, BCA, BA, etc. at UG-level and MTech, MSc, MBA, and MArch at PG level. IKGPTU owns 78.16 acres of land and has 10+ campuses across the state. The university's main campus offers good infrastructure to the students. It offers well-furnished classrooms, labs, and library facilities to the students. Labs on the campus are fully air-conditioned. It also has an auditorium having a seating capacity of 800 seats.
It has a dedicated Centre of Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training. The centre is a joint initiative of the university and Tata Technologies. It was started with the motive of improving innovation and increasing in quality of technical education. The centre contributes towards its long-term plan of offering skilled manpower to the industry and increasing the employability of the students. Students get to experience full industrial exposure as the machines available at the centres are high-end industrial machines.
IK Gujral Punjab Technical University has a computer centre that has served as an IT hub for the university and constituent campuses. It has a high-speed internet facility. It also offers e-campus facilities to the students by offering 24*7 open high-speed internet with uninterrupted connectivity. The centre also offers IT services to different government organisations as part of collaborations.
IKGPTU offers accommodation facilities to both boys and girls. The hostel facility offers a warm, welcoming, secure, and hygienic environment to the students. There are three boys' hostels and two hostels for girls' students at walking distance from the academic block within the campus. Girls' hostels have 152 rooms with an intake capacity of 188 students, and boys' hostel has 370 rooms with an intake capacity of 740 students. There are over 2000 seats for the BPharm course at the IK Gujral Punjab Technical University. The seat allotment procedure at the university is based on merit in the qualifying examination. Also, the seat count varies from one college to another. The CT Group of Institutions has the highest number of seat intake, i.e., 210. It must also be noted that the mentioned seat intake is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is subject to changes and hence, is indicative.
There is only PG which is available nearer to this university in which the college staffs stays, it is not for girls, generally most of students stay in the college hostel because it has very less hostel fee. Also in kapurthala which is nearly 4-5kms from the university, there are two-three PGs available which is better to stay. But no one from our college lives there, if some one don't want to stay in hostel either they are local or they take a flat/apartment.

The BPharm total tuition fee ranges from INR 2.1 lakh to INR 5 lakh. It is inclusive of fees at the affiliated colleges as well. IK Gujral Punjab Technical University and its affiliated colleges admit candidates to the BPharm course on merit-basis. The applicants scores in the last qualifying exam are considered for selection. At the time of counselling, admission is offered as per the seat intake in the applied college. Some of the seats may be reserved for students belonging to SC/ST/OBC or other reserved categories.
