Review of Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre.

Placements: The college offers jobs like tutors in the college itself with a monthly pay of nearly 70000. The degree is valuable outside, too. PG courses are offered within the college, which are quite decent. There are also medical officer jobs that can be applied for in the attached colleges.

Infrastructure: Labs and classrooms are good, the simulation lab is top notch, but the extremely necessary are ignored. The toilets are extremely dirty, the mess hall is not cleaned, and is covered with pigeon excrement. The canteen is actually in a modified shipping container. The hostel is really bad and the food is not good.

Faculty: A lot of the teachers are qualified and knowledgeable, but very few want to teach. Most of them read out of PPTs. The exposure is pretty good, but all the patients are mostly Bengal, and without learning Bengal, it's hard to understand the patients without it. Self-study is necessary to pass anything. The internals are medium difficult.

Other: The college is very conservative, and the rules are very strict and outdated. We have a uniform, no devices allowed in class, the security mistreats us, and we can't go anywhere without being questioned. There have only been 2 fests in the college's history, which were established around 25 years ago, and they are also quite namesake. Extracurricular activities are nil. The college is only for people who are okay with an extremely conservative mindset and are here only to study and pass.

A good college for the demanding course.

Placements: MBBS courses don't offer placements. After the course, there is 1 year of internships after which you can apply to any hospital as an MBBS graduate. The initial salary for an MBBS graduate can range from Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000. Internships are to be done in the same hospital as the college.

Infrastructure: College has a very good central library that has books for under-graduates, post-graduates, super specialty courses, and competitive exams. Vydehi's main attraction is VASA which offers simulations for various clinical scenarios and procedures like BLS, ALS, normal delivery, etc. Classrooms are well constructed with good lighting, projectors, and AC facilities.

Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, have good lecture delivery skills, and are quite knowledgeable. Course curriculum is relevant and helps students become good doctors with certifiable skills, simulation practice, real patient exposure, etc. Semester exams are quite difficult considering the amount of portions and difficulty of understanding subjects.

Other: I chose MBBS because as a child I always wanted to become a doctor, gain a reputation, and be in a noble profession. More individual attention would make the course better. It helps students understand better and become good clinicians. College organises fests every year which include sports and cultural activities.

The college is beneficial, and there are good opportunities to learn.

Placements: We have to do an internship after the final year, where we are paid a decent amount, and you can always come back and work in Vydehi because the majority of teachers and tutors here were students of Vydehi itself. The institute has a good reputation that will definitely help your further studies.

Infrastructure: Actually, classrooms with good maintenance. Classes are conducted systematically and on point. The anatomy teachers are very good and teach the subject very well. You will learn a lot through dissection as well. The biochem department is very strict and systematic.

Faculty: The teachers take good care but are more exam-oriented. We have to write a lot of informative assessments, which will definitely benefit but are stressful. They strictly follow the NMC curriculum, and the labs are also conducted very subject-oriented. Initially stressful, but you will get used to it.

Other: There are many strict rules. Fests are not even a thought to be given, but the campus is beautiful, and the crowd here is pretty fun as well.
