The selection process for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) consists of two stages:Stage 1: Written Entrance ExaminationThe NIFT entrance exam is a computer-based test that is conducted in two phases:Phase 1: General Ability Test (GAT)The GAT assesses the candidate's general aptitude in areas such as quantitative ability, English comprehension, and general knowledge.Phase 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT)The DAT assesses the candidate's design aptitude in areas such as creativity, drawing ability, and spatial awareness.To qualify for the second stage of the selection process, candidates must secure a minimum score of 40% in both the GAT and the DAT.Stage 2: Situation TestCandidates who qualify for Stage 2 will be called for a situation test. The situation test is a group exercise that is designed to assess the candidate's problem-solving skills, communication skills, and teamwork skills.Minimum NIFT Exam Score RequiredThere is no fixed minimum NIFT exam score required for admission to the B.Des program. However, the cut-off scores vary from year to year and from course to course. In general, a score of 70 or above is considered to be a good score for the B.Des program.The following are the cut-off scores for the B.Des programme in 2023:Fashion Design: 75Leather Design: 73Accessory Design: 72Textile Design: 70Knitwear Design: 71Fashion Communication: 74Please note that these cut-off scores are for the general category.
