No, you cannot join the World University of Design directly. Firstly, you have to give an aptitude test, and secondly, an on-campus interview will be conducted. Candidates must make sure they have the necessary Senior Secondary Examination credentials and must have received at least a 50% in the qualifying exam. The age restriction for the BDes programme at different institutions must also be followed by candidates. For the World University of Design, the WUD Entrance Score required for B.Des is 70-79.9%. Additionally, there is a requirement of an aggregate of 187.5-92.4% in 10+2 of CBSE or equivalent.

Valid scores of NIFT, NID, D-Art, CEED, and UCEED exams can be considered in lieu of DAT, and those of CET, CAT, MAT, and XAT in lieu of GAT. Candidates with a good NIFT exam score can apply for admission to the university and may be shortlisted based on their performance for the next stages of the admission process, which include a personal interview and the showcasing of creative evidence such as a portfolio, drawings, photographs, or crafts.

School of Design, UPES

• Strengths:

  • Affordable fees: UPES is a relatively affordable university.
  • Strong technical focus: UPES's curriculum is more focused on technical skills than WUD's.
  • Strong design infrastructure: UPES has a strong design infrastructure,  including state-of-the-art studios and laboratories.
  • International exposure: UPES has collaborations with universities abroad,  which can give students the opportunity to study abroad or intern with international companies.

• Weaknesses:

  • Less well-known brand: UPES is not as well-known as WUD,  so graduates may have more difficulty finding jobs.
  • Weaker industry connections: UPES does not have as strong a network of industry contacts as WUD.
  • Less hands-on learning: UPES's curriculum is less focused on hands-on learning than WUD's.

In 2023, a minimum of 50% of the total points needed to graduate from an accredited university and at least three years of full-time work experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity will be needed to be eligible for the MBA programme at World University of Design (WUD). Furthermore, applicants need to receive at least a 50% on the WUD-conducted PG-DAT (Post Graduate Diploma in Aptitude Test).
