Q:   Is there 100% placement in XLRI Jamshedpur?
A: 

According to the latest report 2026, PGDM students accepted 576 domestic offers and 2 international offers in 2026. The placement percentage data is not released as of now. Earlier, during the placement drive 2024, 100% PGDM BM and HRM students were placed. 

For PGDM GM, 98% students were placed during the placement drive 2025.

Q:   Can I get direct admission in XLRI?
A: 

Xavier School of Management Jamshedpur does not have the provision of direct admission to the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) courses. However, as per various sources, XLRI Jamshedpur has a few seats under the Managment quota for which the institute offers direct admission. XLRI admission to most the PGDM courses is based on the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur.

Q:   Why is XLRI Jamshedpur expensive?
A: 

XLRI is accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), AMBA, and NBA (National Board of Accreditation), and is approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), AIU, and GOI.

Being a private college, the fee can be a little high, but the students can apply for scholarships provided by the XLRI-Xavier School of Management. Hence, even if the students find XLRI Jamshedpur a little expensive, they don't have to worry as scholarships are available to assist them.

Q:   Which sector places most number of students during XLRI Jamshedpur placements?
A: 

Consulting followed by BFSI, IT and Sales & Marketing sectors were among the top sectors during PGDM BM and PGDM HRM placements 2026. Placement distribution recorded in these sectors was 36%, 18%, 15% and 12%.

In PGDM GM course, IT sector was the top sector wherein 47 offers were made in 2025.

Q:   Can I get into XLRI with 90 percentile in XAT?
A: 

XLRI Jamshedpur XAT cutoff 2026 has been released for PGDM courses. The cutoff has been released for the eligible candidates to appear for the GD & PI round. As per the official website, the XAT overall cutoff 2026 for male (Engineer/Tech) is ≥94 for PGDM in Business Management. Similary, for the female (Engineer/Tech), the required XAT cutoff percentile is ≥88. These are not the final cutoffs and are the qualifying percentiles for GD & PI.

It is a professional course with ample learning and improvement opportunities.
Placements: I have been part of my programme from the past 6 months. After adding my credentials in my LinkedIn account, I have been getting connections from companies in which I have the interest. Salary packages offered for our alumni are wonderful and are a record which was not offered ever before. Placements are offered in a top range in the whole country, and the starting salary packages offered for experienced professionals are more than a few lacs.
Infrastructure: My classmates are staying in the hostels, and I get to know information from them regarding various facilities provided to them. The campus has a high functioning Wi-Fi facility and a library with many latest journals from scientific and management publishing authorities. Sports facilities provided here include a tennis court and basketball court for all the students.
Faculty: Professors here are qualified and renowned. They are well versed in their field of specialisation, and they focus on the life of the students. The course curriculum is divided into 3 terms, and every term includes six subjects. It is mandatory to pass in every term for successful completion of the programme. Students are already industry-ready, and this course works as a refresher for students who are from a similar background.

It gives a thoroughly delightful experience of a lifetime with the world class facilities.
Placements: The course is for developing the executive skills in the human resources domain, and hence the placement was not the key factor to almost all the students in the batch. Most of the students were the working professionals and were looking for more enhancement to their knowledge and a deeper grounding in the theoretical aspects of the domain knowledge.
Infrastructure: The classes were conducted with a top of the line infrastructure like video conferencing, collaborative learning tools, study portal for the students with unique logins, etc., The entire course was run on a virtual mode with two sessions of one week each at XLRI-Jamshedpur. This was a highly intensive and interactive session where we got to meet people in the HR domain from across India.
Faculty: The faculty are one of the best in the country. Most of the faculty members had authored their books for the curriculum and are considered as the domain experts in their respective areas. The faculty members are also engaged in the real-life consultancy to the successful organisations and hence are equipped well to handle any queries from us. They are the elite in their domain as far as their knowledge, working experience and practical knowledge are concerned.

I am really honoured to be a student of XLRI. It had huge placements in 2017 with 19.8 lac.
Placements: The brand XLRI plays an immense role your CV. By God's grace, the students are placed in the top-notch industries with the higher salary. It had placements in the sector such as FMCG, FMCD, Consulting, IT etc. It got 100 percent placements with minimum CTC of 19.8 lac per annum. Hul, Nestle, Dabur, ITC, perfetti, Godrej, LG, Tata, Sony, Samsung, Boston consulting group, McKenzie, TCS, Wipro, Accenture were the few glimpse of the placement.
Infrastructure: It has a sprawling campus with accommodation staying facilities and has Wi-Fi enabled labs, library, medical facilities, sports and games, with the quality canteen. The hostel rooms are of better quality, and neat and clean with modern amenities. The faculty members are worldwide famous among IIM, IIT, Harvard, Oxford University. They are helpful and sincere. In one word, it is vivacious.
Faculty: The syllabus is vast, and it covers every aspect of the business. It will teach you well. As I said earlier, execpt for one or two, the faculty members are having multi-tasking abilities with huge talents, and you can take it from them. It has management program and fellow programs & other courses to boost your career.

Good Infrastructure, Supportive Faculties
Placements: When I joined the college, mine was the 3rd batch to graduate. Placements for my seniors were pretty good. Companies like Unisys, Oracle, Bluestar had come for on-campus placement for them. Same was the case for my juniors (as far as I got to know). But during my batch, though Unisys, HP had come for on-campus placement, the JD was mainly for Tech Support kind of roles. The college did its best by trying to get us placed through pool campus of Microsoft in a different college. Also, SAP Labs had come for on-campus placement for their MS + Stipend program and one of my batchmates got selected for the same. Lecturers were very supportive throughout. We were encouraged to take up aptitude tests from "Cocubes" which was also providing placement support.
Infrastructure: Amazing infrastructure. Well maintained library. Since Nursing Division is also on the same campus, medical facility is also available. Labs are very good and lab assistants are also very supportive. There were 2 canteens during my time on campus. College Bus facility is also available on extra payment and has very good service. Overall a big and beautiful campus just at the start of NICE Road.
Faculty: Faculty are very knowledgeable and encourage you to take part in seminars and presentations apart from regular studies. Course curriculum is as per VTU and hence faculty cannot be blamed if certain subjects are not updated. But faculties are mostly supportive and any doubts or extra information can always be got from them.
Other: Good college overall. Though it was fairly new when I joined (2009) and I had my own apprehensions, this college gave me a lot of exposure which laid foundation stones for my career ahead. Because of the support from the college, I got various opportunities in programs like Shadow the CEO, Global Shapers Karnataka organised by SAP Labs, Young Tech India (in which I was one of the 8 student orators). I also got SAP Scholarship to complete 'Dual Certification in Professionalism and Early Leadership' from LeadCap.

What is the usual XLRI waitlist movement like?

The XLRI waitlist movement is usually high for Delhi campus between 350 to 600 spots. For Jamshedpur the movement is low between 100 to 180 for BM and 130 to 230 for HRM.

Yes, XAT essay writing round can be considered tough, given that you have to present your point with clarity, examples and convincing arguments - all in limited word count. You need to have a lot of practice in writing short, clear and logically structured essays.
