Candidates seeking admission to design courses at the NIDs need to know about the detailed fee structure for the B.Des and M.Des courses. The NID fee structure is made up of various components like tuition fees, insurance fees, and hostel charges. Here, we explain the fee structure in detail and also explain the contexts.

NID Fee Structure 2026: The National Institute of Design (NID)  will release the fee structure for the academic session 2026-27 on its admission portal. The fee structure will be released for the B.Des and M.Des programs semester-wise and includes various components like tuition fees, insurance fees, alumni fees, and student activity fees. The fee details will not include the Mess fee. It will be notified at the start of the academic session.

Some fees, like the security deposit, are refundable, while others, like the tuition fees, are non-refundable. Admission to the NID institutes will be through the NID DAT 2026 entrance exam. NID DAT 2026 (Prelims) exam will be conducted on December 21, 2025. Candidates who get shortlisted have to next appear in the DAT Mains. The final result of NID DAT 2026 will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

Q:   When will the NIFT 2025 exam analysis released for the written exams?
A:

The exam analysis of the GAT and CAT papers will be released after conclusion of the written exams.  

We will have our representatives covering the exam from the NIFT 2025 exam center, who brings you live exam analysis. The NIFT exam analysis 2025 will covers various aspects like the difficulty level, types of questions asked, expected cut-off, etc.

The written exams for NIFT 2025 will comprise the CAT and GAT exams. The written exams are conducted in February 2025.

NID Admission Process 2026

Admission to the B.Des and M.Des programs at the NIDs will be through the NID DAT 2026 entrance exam.

The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) has two stages.

  1. DAT Prelims
  2. DAT Mains

Candidates will be shortlisted for the DAT Mains based on their performance in DAT Prelims. The final merit list of NID DAT 2026 will be prepared giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

Q:   What is NIFT exam pattern for the B.FTech program?
A:

The participating institutes of NIFTs offer a 4-year B.FTech programme. Admission to the programme is based on GAT scores.

  • The NIFT GAT question paper for the programme will be approximately 180 minutes and will be bilingual.
  • Candidates will have the option to take the exam either in English or Hindi.
  •  The question type will be multiple-choice.
  • The question paper will have a total of 150 questions.
  • Questions will be asked from the following FIVE sections - Communication Ability and Comprehension, Case Study, Quantitative Ability, Analytical & Logical Ability, and GK and Current Affairs. The mode of NIFT exam for the GAT paper will be a computer-based test (or CBT).
