National Institutes of Fashion Technology (NIFTs) are among the most prestigious institutions when it comes to pursuing Design education in India. There are a total of 18 NIFTs located in different parts of India. Candidates usually have to appear for NIFT Entrance Exam in order to secure admission in various undergraduate and postgraduate Design courses offered at different campuses. The list of courses offered at NIFTs includes:

However, apart from offering traditional degree programmes, NIFT also offers some bridge courses in online mode. The NIFT online bridge programmes are offered to former NIFT graduates to enhance their diplomas to degrees.

The NIFT bridge courses were first introduced in 2009, which continued till 2016. Thereafter, the bridge programmes were re-introduced in 2019 as online courses so that more candidates could benefit from it.

The NIFT online courses (bridge programmes) can be pursued in the following disciplines:

All candidates clearing the aforementioned courses successfully will be offered a degree with a reference of the campus and the year in which the diploma was awarded to the candidate.

NIFT Online Courses Eligibility

Only candidates meeting the below-mentioned eligibility criteria will be able to pursue the online bridge courses at NIFT:

UG course: Former NIFT candidates should possess a diploma in BDes Fashion Design/Accessory Design.

PG courses: Former NIFT candidates should possess a diploma in any of the following disciplines:

  • Textile Design
  • Knitwear Design
  • Fashion Communication
  • Leather Design
  • AMM
  • AMMM
  • GMT
  • PG Tech

NIFT Online Courses Admission Process

NIFT admission process for the online bridge courses includes the following steps:

  • Download the NIFT application form and brochure from the official website – www.nift.ac.in
  • Submit the NIFT admission form along with copy of marksheets & diploma certificate online on NIFT CMS
  • Pay NIFT registration fee of INR 2,300 (INR 1,300 for SC/ST/PwD) through RTGS /NEFT/IMPS/DD

Note: While the subjects offered in UG and PG programmes are same, the level of study is different.

Online Course by NIFT Mumbai

NIFT Continuing Education Programmes

Apart from the online courses mentioned above, National Institutes of Fashion Technology also offer various Continuing Education Programmes (CEPs) to students. NIFT CEPs are basically short-term Design courses launched to support the industry, as well as aspiring and working professionals. 

Most of the NIFT CEPs are offered in offline mode, however, due to COVID-19, some of the classes of the theory subjects are currently being conducted in online mode. The official NIFT notification on CEP states, “It is on the discretion of respective CEP coordinators to conduct the classes through online.”
