MFTech Admission Process 2025
Steps taken in the MFTech admission process are varied depending on the admission criteria, i.e., Merit and Entrance Exam-based. The step-by-step guide below explains the entrace exams process followed in India:
STEP 1: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
It is necessary to check the basic eligibility parameters prescribed for the course and make sure that the candidate fulfils those.
STEP 2: APPLICATION FORM
The next step is to fill out the entrance exam application form, which includes filling out the required details and documents and paying the application fee.
STEP 3: ENTRANCE EXAM
The next step for applicants is to prepare and appear for the exam at the given time and venue.
STEP 4: AWAIT RESULTS
Now, the candidates must wait for the result declaration; once declared, they can check their names or ranks in the merit list and see if they are eligible for a seat in the program.
STEP 5: COUNSELLING SESSION
The last step in the MFTech is to attend the counselling process conducted by the college. It involves completing the admission formalities, like paying the admission fee and filling out the forms.

Candidates seeking admission to the M.F.Tech course have to appear in the NIFT entrance exam which is conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. In addition to the M.F.Tech programme, NIFT scores can also be used for admission to the B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses offered by the institute in various locations across India.
The B.F.Tech,2 entrance exam for M.F.Tech comprises two stages:
- Stage 1 - The candidate appears in the General Aptitude Test (GAT); It is a written test.
- Stage 2 - The admission committee will conduct a Personal Interview and Group Discussion round for shortlisted candidates.
The final merit list for the M.F.Tech programme will be prepared by giving 70% weightage to the GAT written test and 30% weightage to the GD/PI.
The admission process to an M.F.Tech programme comprises the following steps:
- Fill in the application form - The application form for the NIFTs will commence sometime around the 1st week of November. The candidate needs to duly fill the form and submit it before the last date.
- Appear in the entrance exam - The National Institute of Fashion Technology will conduct the written exam for NIFT around the 1st week of February.
- Declaration of results - The results of the written exam will be used to shortlist candidates for a personal interview.
- Publication of final merit list - The final results would be published by considering the performance of the candidate in the written exam and personal interview.

In case of the B. Des and B.FTech programmes, the candidates should be less than 24 years as on July 1 of the admission year. There is relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories. However, there is no age limit for applying to the postgraduate programmes at NIFT. When applying for admission to design courses at the NIFTs, the candidate must also carefully go through the academic requirements. Note that even if a candidate qualifies the NIFT Entrance Exam but doesn't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, he or she will not be considered for admission.
