NIFT 2026 Admission Process
Note that the NIFT exam comprises the General Ability Test (GAT) and the Creative Ability Test (CAT). The GAT will be administered in a center-based mode, whereas the GAT will be held offline. The GAT is common for all programs, but only B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take the CAT written exam.
The scores of the written exam will be used to shortlist candidates for the next admission round: NIFT Situation Test/ NIFT Personal Interview (PI). The final merit list of NIFT 2026 will be prepared considering the performance of the candidate in the written tests and the Situation Test/PI. Admission will be strictly based on NIFT 2026 merit rank.
Courses offered by NIFT in India
NIFT Kolkata eligibility criteria vary depending on the programme selected by the students. The institute accepts candidates on an entrance basis, however it is important that students qualify for the minimum qualification set by the institute as well. For NIFT Kolkata UG admissions, the student must not exceed 24 years (29 years for SC/ ST/ PWD category students) of age as of August 1 of the year of admission. Similarly, for NIFT Kolkata PG admissions, students must complete graduation from a recognised university.
Candidates wishing to get a seat in NIFT Kangra are requuired to follow the entrance based admission process. Candidates must make sure to appear for the NIFT Entrance Exam and follow the admission process that is mentioned on the official website of the institute. 
Candidates are required to pay the fee once they get the final admission offer. 
NIFT Delhi is one of the top Design institutes in India. It is the only institute in India to be ranked on the list of top 20 Design colleges, internationally. Getting admission to NIFT Delhi is every aspirant's dream. However, only a few are able to get admission to NIFTs, as the NIFT entrance exam it is not very easy to crack it. Candidates aspiring for NIFT Delhi need to cover important aspects such as Case Study, Analytical and Logical Ability, GK and Current Affairs, Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability and English Comprehension to crack the NIFT entrance exam. So, yes NIFT is difficult to get but with the rit approach and preparation, it is not impossible to crack the NIFT entrance test.

Candidates need to pay the NIFT Fee every semester for the course for which they have applied for admission. Aspirants are informed that all NIFT UG courses have eight semesters, whereas PG courses have four semesters. The fee to be paid by non-NRI candidates for all NIFT campuses for UG and PG courses is the same. Mentioned in the table below is the fee to be paid by candidates for the entire course.
