Symbiosis entrance test (SET) is conducted by Symbiosis International University to provide admission to students in the undergraduate design programmes offered by Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). The various design programmes on offer at SID include BDes, Communication Design, Product Design, Fashion Communication, and Fashion Design.
Admission to design programmes offered by Symbiosis Institute of Design is provided on the basis of a candidate’s score in SET followed by his/her performance in studio test and personal interaction rounds.
Given below is the detailed exam pattern and syllabus for SET for SID admissions 2017.
SET for SID Admissions: Exam Pattern
The exam pattern for SET 2017 for design is such that there are 150 objective questions that candidates need to complete in duration of 150 minutes (2 and a half hours). Each question carries four options as answers. Candidates need to mark the one correct answer. There is no negative marking in the exam.
The question paper for SET for design carries only one section – Design Aptitude. Candidates can refer the table below for further clarification:

SET for SID Admissions: Syllabus
The syllabus for SET 2017 for design constitutes following topics:
• Visualisation: This topic requires candidates to develop an understanding for basic and complex 3D and 2D geometrical shapes.
• Reasoning, Observational, and Perceptual abilities: Here, candidates need to analyse their observations and read information and see objects beyond obvious details.
• Problem Solving abilities: The topic aims at judging the candidates’ ability to identify a problem and provide appropriate solutions.
• Application of Basic Knowledge of Mathematics and Science: For this topic, candidates need to be thorough with the basic principles of science and maths learned till Class X.
• Art, Design, Culture, Craft, and Environment: The topic aims at judging the candidates’ general knowledge related to culture, art, craft, design, and environment in Indian as well as global context.

SEED Entrance Exam is of 60 minutes and will have 60 questions. The test will be conducted online in computer based mode. The test will be of one hour long and will be conducted between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the test day.

The M.Des program at SID will be delivered in a hybrid mode. Classes will be available in both online and offline modes. Also, classes will be weekends and evenings.

SID doesn't offer any short term / distance courses. The institute presently offers only full time Under- Graduate degree courses.
At the UG level, the institute offers a regular B.Des program, while a hybrid M.Des program is offered at the PG level.
