Explore other options if scores are low in JEE

One must not get demotivated due to low scores in the competitive exam rather they should focus on working hard to reach their defined goals.
Your college name will not decide your future. Yes, you heard that right. Every year lakhs of students appear for JEE, however, only some of them get admission in their dream college. The students who are unable to crack IIT Entrance should not get demotivated. There are several other IIITs, NITs, government colleges and some good private colleges that they could consider.
In this article, I would share my own story. While I was preparing for JEE, my main focus was to get admission in an IIT but the odds were not in my favour and I end up not even clearing my JEE Advanced and at that time I was highly demotivated. I thought this is the end of my life but at that time my parents motivated me a lot. They asked me if I want to drop a year and appear for the Main again.
At that time I was tired and did not want to appear for the exam again. Always remember that if you are thinking of dropping a year make sure that you are confident enough to crack that exam otherwise your confidence level would diminish. So, I end up getting admission in a private college. There I realised that colleges play a very little role in deciding one’s future.
In our country, the students are mad over getting admission in IITs. There are several cases where students commit suicide because they were unable to crack the IIT entrance exam. It is totally up to the student how would they spend their precious four years in the college. These four years are the most crucial part in deciding the future. Every college almost teaches almost the same subjects. So, don’t worry about academics.
It’s not necessary that if you are in an IIT then you would get a very good package. Some IIT graduates end up even not getting placed because they lack some skills. Also, there are cases where a student from a private college got placed in an MNC with a very good package. What is important is how much knowledge one has about their field of interest.
One should carefully decide which college is good for them. Always check how many MNCs visit that college. Even a private college might bring your dream company to your campus. While sitting in the interview, the skills acquired during the last four years of the college would matter and help in deciding your future.
Before taking admission to a specific college you must gather all the information about that college. Shiksha.com has a very good feature where you can ask about any colleges from the students studying there so, I advise that the students must take advantage of this feature.
