KCET also is known as Karnataka Common Entrance Test is conducted by the Karnataka examination authority. KCET is conducted for admissions in Engineering, B\Pharm and Farm Science courses in various institutions in the Karnataka State. In this article, we will discuss the preparation tips for KCET
Preparation tips for KCET
The students should start preparing for the exam from the first year of pre-university itself. The students should focus on covering all the topics of each subject to score well.
Tips to crack the exam
- Revise the topics studied regularly to get a better grip on the subject
- Avoid starting a new topic in the last month
- Practise to solve the given problem within the given time frame
- Make short notes while preparing each topic
Tips for time management
- The time duration of this exam is 80 minutes
- The number of questions in each subject is 60
- The questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.
- Practising previous year questions and mock tests regularly would help in understanding the exam pattern and enhancing the speed and accuracy.
Key topics
- The students need to focus on the topics with high-weightage as this would help in enhancing the scores in the exam
- The marks are divided into 60:40 ratios, i.e. 60% is from the second year and the remaining 40% is from the first year
- The students preparing for medical courses should give more time to Biology as compared to other sections
Study plan
- The study plan means how one is going to cover all the topics in the given timings
- The study plan must be organised and strictly adhered to
- Equal time should be allotted to each subject so that the syllabus could be completed on time
- Time for revising the topics studied should also be included in the plan
Managing both board and competitive exams side-by-side
- The students are often confused about how to manage both the exams simultaneously and score distinction in the board exams
- Formulate a plan to cover the similar topics of both the exams first and then focus on the rest of the syllabus
- Preparation of the board exams should be prioritised as board exams are conducted before KCET
- After the board exams, students generally a gap of a month for KCET, hence, they should utilise this period in revising all the topics thoroughly
