I really burnt the midnight oil for securing admission to a good college: Md. Ehsanullah

My father was a civil engineering professor who inspired me to become a civil engineer. When I was of 10 years I had decided to become an engineer. While I was in class 9 I asked my teachers about engineering and whether it would be beneficial for me or not. They advised me and motivated me to pursue the same. I was also told by some of my senior teachers that becoming a good civilian is better than a corrupt engineer. After qualifying matriculation, I chose science stream and pursued it from Senior Secondary School, Aligarh Muslim University. I was regularly motivated by my father and hence I chose to pursue civil engineering from I.T.S Engineering College.

While I was in 12th standard, I studied hard to achieve good marks in AIEEE but couldn't do so. I knew that I could still get admission in a good college if I could qualify their direct admission tests. Therefore I prepared a lot for the entrance tests of the private engineering colleges. I took classes for English and worked a lot over my aptitude. I really burnt the midnight oil for securing admission to a good college.

Then I came to ITS Engineering College for direct admission. I gave some tests related to English and Maths. All my hard work paid off when I qualified the test with good marks and I was selected for admission in this college. I.T.S Engineering College is one of the best colleges in Delhi/NCR. It has a lush green campus and a great infrastructure. I felt so good after visiting the campus of this college. Once I got admission here, I did not try for any other college. Now I really feel that it was one of the best decisions of my life.

I spend my time at college in the best manner possible. I have learned quite a lot of things in my college life which has improved my overall personality and skills. I try to attend all the classes. In the first year, I had 100% attendance for which I got certified also. But after the second year, due to learning some extra skills, I was not able to attend all the classes.

I have participated in competition TECHTRIX 2018 in which I completed a project on smart city in the field of design and fabrication in a week. I explained the project in front of hundreds of people. I was awarded a cash prize and a certificate for the third position achieved.

I have also completed some of designing classes like AutoCAD, Revit and STAAD.Pro and I am also certified in these. I have also qualified the test of NPTEL in Electronic Waste Management Issues and challenges conducted by IIT Kharagpur.

Apart from all this, I also feel that I have become really good at my time management skills. Before coming to college, time management was a little bit tough for me. But now with the guidance of my teachers, I manage my time efficiently. I am able to complete all my tasks at the deadlines. Also, I was an introvert by nature. I could not speak to strangers confidently. I desperately wanted to change this trait of mine.

Now with practice and more awareness, I feel that I have become ambivert. It’s a big achievement for me. Now I can communicate with strangers as well. All this is really helping me in getting prepared for facing interviews and group discussions.

I am pursuing B.Tech in civil engineering from ITS Engineering College. My areas of interest are to work in the field designing and structure detailing with the help of AutoCAD, Revit and STAAD.Pro.
