TNEA stands for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions. The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu conducts TNEA every year. It is an online counselling window. All Indian National candidates who wish to take admission to Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges, University Departments and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Annamalai University and for the seats surrendered by Self-Financing Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu have to apply for TNEA counselling.

TNEA counselling is a Unified Single Window Admission System for Indian Nationals only. The courses offered via this online counselling are BE/BTech and BE (sandwich) courses. TNEA counselling is conducted online in 4 rounds as per the schedule. Candidates need to participate in corresponding rounds based on their rank.

The total fee of BTech ranges between INR 6 Lacs and INR 10 Lacs as per an unofficial source. Candidates who have applied for BTech (lateral entry) need to pay a total fee ranging between INR 2.40 Lacs and INR 5.40 Lacs as per an unofficial source. The fee might includes components other than the tuition fee. Candidates are required to pay the course fee after completion of all the selection rounds to confirm their seats. The selection to BTech course will be based on BEEE score.  In case, a candidate is unable to pay the fee within the specified time, his or her admission will stand cancelled. Aspirants will also need to pay a registration fee to apply for admission. Candidates can pay the application fee via any of the online payment mode. 

For BTech admission in VELS School of Engineering, students must fulfill eligibility criteria based on stream and specialisation. Eligible students have to take VELS entrance exam and qualify it to get admission.

As per information available, Bhagwan Mahaveer College of Engineering and Management has recorded (aprx) INR 630,000 median salary to students for B.E. / B.Tech course during placements.

Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering is a good institute in Chennai in terms of BTech and M.Tech placements. The institute offers placement assistance. The highest and average package secured by batch 2025 was INR 20 LPA and INR 14.5 LPA.

At Meenakshi College of Engineering, students can study about computers. They offer a B.Tech programme in Computer Science and Engineering, and they accept 120 students for this course.
