Guidance of My Teachers Pushed Me to Do MCA: Kumar Abhijeet
First of all, I would like to applaud SHIKSHA's initiative to collect information about colleges across India. From my point of view, none can judge a college better than then the students who have actually studied there.
I also think this is a very great step by SHIKSHA because colleges in our locality rarely get reviewed, neither by government authorities nor by autonomous organisations.
When we talk about the education system in our country, the colleges in the state of Bihar are always at the bottom. There are no central universities in Bihar, and the colleges here are not in a commanding position when it comes to managing sessions strictly and providing placements. But over the years, a large number of talented people have been serving the nation across almost all domains, including Engineering, Medicine, and Journalism, who have completed their degrees from lesser-known colleges in the country.
Keeping all these things aside, let me talk about my college, where I have just completed my graduation.
I am from Bhagalpur and a student of Tej Narayan Banaily College (TNB). TNB College is regarded as the topmost college of Tilkamanjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU), which has 29 constituent colleges. The courses offered by TNB College include subjects in the Science and Arts streams, as well as two vocational courses, BCA and Biotechnology.
As my course of study was BCA, I can share some of my experiences while completing this course.
I got admitted to this course in 2014 by cracking a rather easy entrance exam, which included intermediate-level questions on Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Studying at TNB College
After being admitted, the first thing I noticed was the college's environment. The seniors gave us a fresher party to establish cordial relations with us. We came across some good, knowledgeable teachers. As I had a strong interest in learning about computers, I enjoyed every moment of it. Learning about various programming languages like C, C++, Java, and writing code to enhance my logical abilities was great fun.
I have now completed my course after a one-year delay. The reason for this delay is that this institution is not managed properly when it comes to the timely commencement of examinations. Over the years, it has now become customary that you will have to face the delay of one year or even two years, no matter which course or subject you are pursuing. Additionally, there is no placement cell at our university, so even vocational courses like BCA are regarded as 'just another course'.
As I have talked a lot about the cons of my college, let me also share its brighter aspects. But before I do that, I would like to tell you that I have cracked the NIMCET exam (NIT MCA Entrance Exam) 2018, and I am waiting for my counselling. The motivation that I have gathered from the learned teachers and the associated staff is exceptional. Yes, the number of teachers in my department is comparatively low, but the quality of the teachers is immense.
My next destination is MCA
It’s only because of their teaching skills, I felt amazed about the world of computers and tried to learn every bit of it. It is for the same reason that I decided to crack NIMCET to get admission in NIT colleges for MCA course. I am very thankful to them.
So, though I have lost one year extra studying at TNB College without being selected in any company, the doors of the future are wide open for me.
