COVID-19 Pandemic has brought lots of innovative ideas and technology into implementation in the regular academics of my college. Currently, as a precautionary method to prevent the virus from spreading, people are not allowed to travel or gather in a large group at a place. Under these circumstances, a new challenge came in front of our college academics and management, on how to deliver regular classes and academic activities to the students across India. Sri Balaji Society has never compromised on its education and time. Based on the principle of our college that is “Problems are Opportunity”, a new innovative method of imparting classes and conducting exams has been implemented by the college, i.e. Online Teaching.

The entire learning process is shifted to online classroom learning via Microsoft Teams App. In this app, the IT department has created classrooms according to the specialisation and academics and the students are added accordingly. The live classes begin as per the normal college timing and the students can interact with the faculty to ask queries in the comment section and the faculties solve these queries. Similarly, the exams are also being taken, where firstly an assignment with five questions are given to students of a particular subject. The students are supposed to answer all the questions as per their understanding of the subject.

The submission date and time is fixed in the Teams App itself.

Students have to submit the word document/ file of their assignment in their respective classroom of the assigned subjects.

After submission, the assignment undergoes plagiarism check and then face-to-face video conferencing is arranged for each subject for half an hour. The faculties ask question upon the subject and the assignment submitted and then the marks are given for both interview and written assignments and the final score is declared.

All the classes, exams and interview are facilitated via Microsoft Teams app. Every student is assigned to their respective classes and assignments are given to each student as per the classes. The interview process and live classroom is recorded for both faculties and student.

This is a new shift from the traditional teaching methodology during this lockdown period. This kind of teaching and use of technology is new for teachers as well as students. Initially, many of us faced issues but with continuous and active involvement by the management, the issues were resolved timely. I would also like to highlight that if any student faces any technical problem like connectivity, etc., during the interview then the teachers keep a note of it and rescheduled the session for any valid reason on the other day. The communication from the college as well as the student is very effective and is done via various means, which ensured the success of this online platform.
