CAT 2016: IIMs start PI shortlisting process
The Ahmedabad and Bangalore campuses of Indian Institute of Management have released their shortlist of selected candidates for 2017-2019 admission.
The candidates can check their status on the IIMA, IIMB, IIMC and IIMK websites by entering their CAT registration number/application number and email ID.
The selected candidates will also receive call letters for the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview round.
Admissions to all IIMs is conducted in three phases, and the final selection is done on the basis of a candidate’s overall performance in CAT, WAT, PI. Other credentials like past academic record, work experience, extracurricular activities and diversity also play an important role in the selection process.

The WAT and PIs will be conducted in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi/NCR. IIM Bangalore has fixed CAT 2016 weightage at 40% while the rest of the parameters sum up to 60%. Stressing on ‘consistently good academic record’, IIMB has allotted 50% of the total weight on academic record. But that’s just the first part of selection process. These parameters are set for initial screening of candidates for subsequent rounds. IIM Calcutta has fixed the weightage of CAT 2016 score as low as 15 out of 50. Personal Interview is holds maximum weightage with 24 out of 50. The candidates who will be called for interview at IIM Calcutta need to be prepared well for WAT/PI as their admission will more or less depend on performance in this round. This year, IIM Kozhikode has allotted 45% weightage to PI and 15% to WAT. Hence, the candidates must not leave any stone unturned for PI as it will play the deciding factor in admission shortlisting. The interview call letters and other details will be made available on the website and the candidates need to download the same. The PI/WAT shortlisting process at IIM Lucknow is underway. The CAT 2016 test-takers can check their eligibility by logging in to the official website with the help of their CAT registration number and registered email ID. According to the admission policy for 2017-2019 released by the institute earlier, minimum overall cutoff required for WAT/PI round was 90 percentile.
