IIM Calcutta MBA is a two-year residential course offered full-time. It is also known as the Postgraduate Programme in Management (PGP). This programme has a two-tier structure: core curriculum, summer internship, and elective courses. IIM Calcutta MBA admission is done based on CAT scores. The final selection to the IIM Calcutta MBA course is based on parameters, including CAT scores, WAT-PI, academic performance, work experience, and gender diversity. For admission to MBA (or PGP) at IIM Calcutta, the CAT test is scheduled on November 30, 2025. Aspirants of IIM Calcutta are required to appear for the exam in Computer Based Testing mode at the allotted test centres. CAT exam will be held in three slots:
- Morning slot: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM
- Afternoon slot: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM

It is mandatory for candidates to meet the sectional and overall CAT cutoff to be eligible for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds for final admission to IIM Calcutta. For IIM Calcutta cutoff for MBA admission, students need to meet both the overall CAT cut off percentile and the sectional cut offs. Candidates seeking admission to IIM Calcutta must score above the 90 percentile in CAT exam. IIM Calcutta does not release CAT cutoffs in the public domain and are exclusively accessible only via account login to candidates who have appeared for the exam. Therefore, the students must aim to score above 90 percentile.
IIM Calcutta placement 2023-24 was concluded with a 100% placement record. The highest package offered in the placement drive stood at INR 1.2 crore per annum. Thus, students after MBA from IIM Calcutta can accept a good placement drive. However, the placement offered changes every year based on the merit of the participants and upon the participating companies.
For admission to IIM Calcutta for the flagship MBA (or PGP) course, the result of CAT 2023 can be expected by the last week of December 2023 (If the CAT conducting body follows the trend as in 2022). However, if the trend is not followed, the same will most probably be out by the first week of January 2024.
