These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.

At present, we are living in a challenging situation where people are struggling for their lives. Yes, I am talking about COVID-19 (coronavirus. Many people have been affected by this virus at a global level. COVID-19 is a dangerous virus and no country has its antidote or medicine. So every day many people are dying due to this virus and in some countries, the condition is very critical. Governments are taking steps to save their lives every day and instructing people to follow the guidelines issued by the WHO. In this critical situation, there is a lockdown in many countries as imposed by their respective governments.

Every individual is trying to cross the hurdles in their daily lives with a positive attitude.

Positive long-term impacts of lockdown on nature

If we observe the world environment of the previous four months, there are some amazing changes in nature like the voice pollution, smoke, traffic, cutting off the trees and jungles, etc. have been reduced drastically. We all could feel that nature is finally healing and breathing due to these drastic changes in the environment. The rivers are clean and transparent, the air quality has improved tremendously, and so on.

β€œStudents are also benefited to this situation during the lockdown”

In normal days, the students follow a regular day to day routine which includes going to the college and dividing the time between study and participating in other activities. However, now due to the lockdown, we stay at home the entire day.

Therefore, it is the right time to discover and develop our skills. Below are the following points I have taken into consideration during this pandemic:

Learning from own place- As we do not have to go to the college and there is no timetable which we have to strictly follow, so, we can choose the extra subject of our interest without any pressure. This way we could learn and enhance our knowledge.

Extra focus to a difficult subject – We all are at our home all the time. So, we have much time to plan the completion of any difficult topic according to our learning capabilities and we can also devote extra time to these complex topics. If we think positively, then this lockdown period could be used to our benefit to enhance knowledge and polish our skills. With this exercise, we could focus on all the subjects when the college would open without much pressure.

Online courses – In the extra time, we could do online courses which would help us in developing our skills and getting an edge over other students. Many of the courses offered online are free of cost to enrol and learn. After the completion of each course, we get a certificate of completion which could be an add-on in the resume.

Learn needful technical skills - These days everywhere we have to work online on the laptop and use some important tools s like Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Excel and many more. The best way to utilise this time is to learn all these tools and use these with ease in future.

Due to the lockdown, the study system has changed a lot and there might be a revolution in the study system so we should utilise this opportunity in learning new skills.
