For the PGDM students of International Management Institute, Bhubaneswar, it is the season of SIP, Summer Internship Programme for the students of the first year. Second-year students are eager to join their companies where they have got placed. Because of the occurrence of the pandemic of Coronavirus, nobody is able to join their companies neither for Internship nor job.

IMI B has a trimester system with the exams of 3rd Semester and 6th Semester in March. So, the second-year students are now free from exams and first-year students will give their initial exam papers after 2 months when the college will resume in June. Thus, to utilize this time, faculties have come up with various assignments for the students. Each day faculty members give different domain assignments to the students on the basis of the specialization they have chosen. The assignments are submitted online through mails. E-books and case studies have been provided to the students by the faculties for the upcoming semester.

The college has given all the students a target. The students have to utilize this time by doing online certification courses like Digital Marketing, Financial Courses from EUDBA, Google Analytics Certifications, Certification Courses on Udemy, Courses from NIOS (National Institute of Open School), Work from home internships through Internshala and LinkedIn.

Each student has to do 5 certifications and 1 work from home (WFH) internship in these 2 months.

As students are waiting to join the companies in which they have got placed through the college, some of these companies have agreed for WFH. Thus, IMI students are all busy one way or the other. Students are building up their resume. They are doing courses which they always wanted to do and now this lockdown has provided them with that opportunity. They have a lot of online platforms where they can devote their time and learn a lot. The institute is providing the material and ways through which students can lead their paths. Being MBA students, they have a sense of responsibility and concern for their own careers.

So, all the students out there use your time wisely. Do a lot of certifications, make up your LinkedIn profile, do internships, attend online classes, etc. Read a lot, learn a lot, develop new skills, watch educative movies and videos,  stay healthy, stay fit and stay safe. Don’t let this time go waste.
