Mystory@Amit Arora: How I made the most of my college years

Mystory@Amit Arora

My college days at BIMTECH were a perfect blend of fun, creativity, confusion and aspiration. For a whole 20 months, I spent at BIMTECH, the fun for being in one of the most happening residential campuses was unparalleled to anything. From the morning breakfast that offered more than five options to choose from, to a nutritious lunch, refreshing evening snacks to discussion typed dinner, BIMTECH was always on a roll. The classes were a mixture of tea breaks, insightful lectures, engaged discussions and demanding assignments.

The biggest challenge at BIMTECH was strict prohibition of any form of tobacco and liquor with a heavy penalty on any type of offence as such related to these tipsy engagements. Apart from these, a very hectic schedule of lectures with a long list of trimester subjects added to the concerns of students like me who were pretty much inclined towards the fun side of learning.

When you talk about diversity and culture, no other campus and college can transcend BIMTECH. From festivals to national holidays and the foundation day, BIMTECH's campus was always a delight to watch and engage with. With the whole student community representing major modalities of the campus ranging from food to sports, discipline to placements, BIMTECH gives you a tantalising chance every day to be a contributor and initiator of changes and valuations.

The courses offered by BIMTECH mirrors major domain profiles in the corporate arena. From Finance to Insurance, Sustainable Development and CSR to Retail, BIMTECH's portfolio is unmatched in the job market with the kind of diversity it offers. I studied sustainable development there and I went on to start my career with a band, being from a new course in a B-School. Although, placements in BIMTECH is a long affair that spans across four to five months filled with excitement, fuzziness, hard work and never ending anxiety, but if prepared well, you end up with a smart profile and handsome package in your kitty. Insurance as a branch of study is focused on more by the placement coordinators at BIMTECH, speed as far as the placements for the marketing branch that has a large number of students leaves much to be desired especially since the process of placements itself is long. Placements in Retail are more skewed with highest package going at Rs 20,00,000 per year (Dubai as a city and PPP is not counted in this figure) to lowest at Rs 3,40,000 per year.

Lastly, BIMTECH will surely give you million chances to be a part of it, no matter how engulfed you are with your top speeding Wi-Fi in hostel room or khokhe ki chai and sutta!! Cheers.
