Mystory@Keshav Sharma: How I chose my course and college
My life till now is no less than a roller coaster ride. I worked hard in 10th board and scored well. I fell in love with numbers from my childhood and that helped me to score very well in Mathematics. After my results were declared, I chose Science stream because of peer pressure. Everyone around me wanted to do engineering at that time after completing class XII, with no idea why they are opting for engineering. One day I started thinking that do I really want to pursue science in my graduation or is it just the peer pressure? After sometime I realized that science is not what I actually wanted to do. So, I completed my class XII with Science stream and then I took a major step of my life to enter the field of management and joined BBA for my graduation from Kurukshetra University. During my graduation, my goal was clear to pursue MBA/PGDM from a good institute. After my graduation, I worked in an organization for almost a year to decide which stream will be better for me for pursuing PGDM/MBA. So, you can see how my life went with lots of ups and downs.
How I cracked college admission
I was working after my graduation, hence I was not able to appear for CAT exam, but then I decided to give MAT exam in Feb. As I mentioned earlier, I was in love with numbers from my childhood and that helped me scoring very well in MAT. I scored 725 in MAT, so I was able to apply in every good B-school in Delhi-NCR with that score. So I applied in JIMS ROHINI, ASIA PACIFIC, NDIM & JAIPUIRA Noida. I was able to clear selection procedures in all the 4 colleges. Then I took the decision of pursuing my PGDM from Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS ROHINI), Delhi and that decision changed my life. Walking into JIMS for the first time with so many apprehensions about how it would turn out to be. After spending almost a year here in the campus of JIMS, I feel very fortunate that I chose JIMS for my PG.

What I gained from my college years
My experience at JIMS (Jagan Institute of Management Studies) is one of the best experience of my life. My first experience with JIMS was an enlightening experience. After welcoming us with a two-week long induction full of interactions, group learnings, and team performance, we were introduced to the management disciplines. The best thing about JIMS are the faculty members and the guest lecturers – my motive of higher studies is getting fulfilled day by day.
Most of my time in college is spent definitely in attending class. My classes usually begins at 9:30 am and end at 5:00pm. I love to attend IT classes the most because I like attending practical classes more than theoretical classes. Every week, different clubs organise various activities and I like to take part in those activities. My college also gave me a chance of working in a live project with Videocon mobiles for their retailers connect research program which developed my interest in market research and after completing my PGDM I wish to work in the same field.
My college has given me a lot of new friends and experiences, in the college as well as in the industry, some of which I will never forget. It has helped me in becoming a better person. I have become more systematic and have learnt time management very well because these are things which are very important in the corporate life.
Finally, I would just say that college gives you various opportunities to discover yourself. One should always be ready to grab an opportunity that comes into their way without thinking too much because this is the only place where you can learn from your mistakes and improve them as soon as possible.
