Choosing Jaipuria turned out to be my best decision: Kriti Gora
I completed my 11th and 12th from Science stream from Modern Vidya Niketan, Sector 17. I did my junior education from the same school. Having a great interest in Science, I wanted to pursue my 11th and 12th in non-medical field. As Modern Vidya Niketan was one of the reputed schools in Faridabad with all the facilities, I decided to continue in the same school. Currently, I am pursuing my PGDM from Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida. I always wanted to study management in business as it is very helpful to know how a business works. By pursuing a management course, you learn a lot about the industry, how it works and how it is managed. So, at first, I decided to search about the colleges. Shiksha.com was most helpful in recommending the colleges. I gave many exams but decided to go ahead with my MAT score. After my MAT result, I filled forms for many colleges and gave the interviews for the same in various cities. After researching the colleges in which I was selected on the basis of interviews, I finalized Jaipuria. Currently, I am pursuing Dual Specialization in PGDM in Marketing and HR from Jaipuria. It is helping me gain great knowledge about the field.
For admission in PGDM/MBA colleges, there are various tests organised. I gave many exams for the same like IBSAT, CAT, XAT, and MAT. I gave September and December MAT in which my score was 89.92%. I did not take any coaching classes and decided to do self-study. I used to practice daily from many books and also solved many online papers available for the test. After the score was declared, I shortlisted some colleges on the basis of my score. Then, interviews were conducted in all the colleges where there were 2 rounds – GD followed by PI. I prepared for my GD by reading newspapers and learning various new words daily. After the process in various colleges and on the basis of selection, I shortlisted Jaipuria Institute of Management. For the interview preparation, I used stay up to date with the current affairs. I tried for many colleges like IBS Hyderabad, Thapar Institute of Management, BIMTECH, etc. But among all of them, I preferred joining Jaipuria due to the salary packages offered here. Also, it was near my hometown. I am gaining much experience by studying here. I’m learning how to be a professional marketer.
In Jaipuria Institute of Management, 80% attendance is mandatory. So we need to attend many classes and can take very few leaves. Also, we get many assignments and submissions which are to be submitted on time, so half of our free time goes in that. Rest of the free time is spent on reading newspapers or journals. Talking about the extra-curricular activities, I am a part of 2 clubs viz. iTops and external affairs. We have many events here and the festivals are also celebrated very well. I want to be the president of iTops committee.
My college has changed me as a person overall. I have become a more disciplined and managerial person.
I’ve certainly experienced challenges here and there, but the positive aspects of my experience absolutely outweigh anything that could have been potentially negative. I’ve learned lessons during the past three years at my school that will hold true and valuable for years to come.
I learned the importance of ‘You Only Live Once.’ Sure, this saying can be applied to many different things but I’ve chosen to look at it differently. In high school, I was hesitant to take risks. I didn’t like being unsure of the outcome or the circumstances. Since I’ve been in college, I have learned the importance of risk-taking and the ways that it promotes healthy growth and self-improvement.
I also learned to be confident and independent. I stopped questioning every decision I made and started believing in myself. After doing this two or three times, I realized that I had discovered a side of myself that I absolutely loved.
While there were, and still occasionally are, some days that were a lot harder than others, the lessons and experiences I’ve gained as a college student are invaluable. In college, I was able to become the best version of myself. I learned how to live my life to the fullest, and through this process became both incredibly independent and confident in the person that I am.
