Mystory@Purva Puri: How I landed in Hospitality Industry

My career choice was totally destiny’s design. I completed my Graduation in Science with Chemistry as my major subject from KC College, Mumbai. Before I could plan about further studies, I found myself at Taj Mahal Hotel, working as a trainee.

I had appeared in an interview for trainee at the Taj Mahal Hotel for a lark and I got selected. My job at the hotel was the turning point of my life. I fell in love with the hospitality industry and there was no looking back.

It was a perfect career choice for me, but unfortunately I could not continue in that field. When I look back now, I feel I left that industry at a wrong time. However, I learnt some very important lessons during my stint in the job. In hospitality industry, the key is patience. We should try to be patient and must learn as much as we can from our seniors.

My never-give-up attitude and willingness to learn worked for me. I feel that to succeed in life one must have a positive attitude, should be hard working and must know how to work smart. Also, should have good communication skills.
