Mystory@Vineet Raj Kapoor: How I cracked college admission

Mystory@Vineet Raj Kapoor

When I was preparing for CAT, I made myself believe that nothing was impossible. With an aim to crack not only CAT, but other management exams also, I started my preparations with full zeal. I appeared for CAT in 1987-88.

My preparation strategy was very basic. Following the right prepration strategy and dedicating a decent amount of time can do wonders. Here are some tips that can help the current MBA aspirants in cracking management exams:

  • I first moved to a single room in our hostel so that I could study in peace
  • I gathered IMS notes
  • Next, I started a discussion group in our hostel
  • I had always been an avid reader, and I liked reading Reader’s Digest. In the process of reading I used to come across numerous words that were unknown to me. My next aim was to create a word list of such words. I challenged myself to memorise these words by end of summer. Once my learning was done, I planned to get back to revision of this list
  • To make sure that I made utmost use of the new words I had learnt, I started using those words in my poems and writings this was also a good way to revise the words I had recently learnt)
  • My preparation strategy helped me a lot and I cracked every exam like CAT, XLRI, FMS, UBS among others. Also, I topped JBIMS. However, my GD was not up to the mark in most of the top colleges
  • I made it to UBS Chandigarh, but my story inspired a lot of students from my college to crack and succeed at CAT/ MBA. I hope it inspires you too.
