These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com

This pandemic has taught us the importance of using technology. It has shown people how effective this can be if we all know how to use the same. Every sector is operating through online mode. The education field, which no one thought could be online for such a long time, is now running online smoothly. Start-ups who provide online education are becoming more popular now. Earlier, people did not rely on such platforms much as they thought regular classroom teaching is more viable.

Due to the lockdown, every college, school, and institute is using online classes to ensure that education is not affected. Talking about the long-term impact, I can say that now people in India have changed their mindset and are more open to online learning. Many people are also doing online courses, certifications, and training to enhance their skills. So, the huge potential in the Indian online education market has now evolved. Moreover, people are now taking an interest in learning the use of various technologies.

In my college, many things were online, however, now the new additions in the online process are the online exams and the admission process. I think that when the lockdown would be over, the admission process could be completely shifted to online mode but exams will continue in the traditional way only. It solely depends upon the management decision.

My college keeps on adapting the current trends and technologies so nobody knows what will be the next step of the management.

If they feel that it is efficient than the earlier method then they might adopt without any problem as our college has got the resources, people and IT infrastructure.

Yes, I think online education is sustainable as the student can be more productive at home with a flexible way of learning and the freedom to do things. Also, if online learning is supported with offline classroom a few times a week then this would be a significant change in the education pattern of India. It would boost to the understanding level of the student. In my opinion, the offline classes could give support to the online classes as a doubt clearing session at the beginning of some topics and the end. The students could be told the concept, topics, and assignment in an offline class and then given a time of their own to learn and explore things online. Timely online submission of assignments and quizzes would also help to enhance the skills of students.

For any kind of queries, both online and online forum should be available for the student. Also, the online platform should change with the requirement of the stakeholders and should be user friendly.
