COVID-19 Pandemic has brought lots of innovative ideas and technology into implementation in the regular functioning of my college. Currently, as a precautionary measure to prevent the virus from spreading people, there is a lockdown in the country. Under these circumstances, a new challenge was faced by my college regarding the admission process. Based on the principle of our college that is “Problems are Opportunity”, a new innovative method of admission process has been implemented by the college.
Earlier, the admissions used to take place through three rounds, i.e. Essay Writing, GD and PI. All over India, centres would have been allocated on at different dates the college management would conduct the process. The student needs to fill the online application from the college website and wait for the reply from the college regarding the allocated process centre and dates. Usually, the online form filling used to start from December every year and the process would hold between the months of March to May all over India on different dates.
The student needs to carry the required documents as mentioned in the application form and be present at their respective admission centres close to their proximity at the scheduled date and time.
Now, this entire process has been shifted to the online forum, where form filling, GD, PI, essay writing, are taken online via telephonic and video conferencing. The students are allotted their time slot and dates for video group discussion and interview. They are also assigned with some topics, which they have to write and send an e-mail to the college. If a student faces any issue during the process it is solved by giving another time slot and date.
For any queries and communication, a WhatsApp group is formed where the student can post their queries and also a helpline number of Admission Cell is shared with them. Regular e-mails and SMS are sent on the registered mobile number of the student for any updates.
Currently, the process is going on and it will continue till mid-June as it is the last phase of the process. Once the process is completed, the selected student gets an e-mail regarding their allocated institute and course and other details. The students also receive an e-booklet of the college and the process of admission with all the important dates mentioned in the same. To communicate, the student can either give a call or write an email to the Admission Cell. We have a dedicated set of teams in the Admission Cell looking after the entire admission process.
